What is a Marimo Moss Ball?

Plants - Marimo Moss BallMy marimo moss ball arrived yesterday!  What the heck is a marimo moss ball?  Well, it’s a tangle of a special kind of moss discovered in Japan which forms a ball as it rolls around.  You are encouraged to roll it around, in fact, to help it keep its round shape!  Here is mine in his new home.  Yes, I said, “His,” because right away these guys seem to have little personalities!  They move around on their own seeking light, so they just seem so alive!

I’m so happy with this purchase I have already ordered 6 tiny ones for my office from the same seller:  eclecticzen  It’s good to find a seller who will send authentic products because apparently some sell Styrofoam balls with green stuff glued on!

They seems so relaxing to look at.  They grow slowly, 5mm a year, and only require a water change every 2 weeks or so.  I think they are great fun!
