A Lamborghini Murcielago With a Manual Is Currently Up for Auction

Are you disappointed that Lamborghini doesn’t currently sell a V-12 with a stick shift? Well, here’s one way to satisfy your hunger for a Raging Bull that will let you handle gear shifts yourself.

A 2003 Murciélago with a six-speed manual transmission is currently up for auction on Bring a Trailer. The gearbox isn’t this supercar’s only attractive feature, though. It also has totaled just 9,000 miles in the two-plus decades since it left the factory.

There’s a certain strain of enthusiasts who associate Lamborghinis with manuals because of the iconic Countach, but the marque hasn’t sold a flagship model with a stick shift since the Murciélago was discontinued in 2010 (its little sibling, the Gallardo V-10, was available with a manual until 2014). It was during those eight years the model was on sale, 2002 to 2010, that the automaker began its shift towards automatic gearboxes in earnest. There’s a lot to love about this Murciélago, but its transmission is its biggest selling point. That’s why it’s mentioned in the listing title after all.

The Murciélago up for sale is from the model’s first generation, which was built between 2002 to 2006. Its six-speed manual is mated to a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V-12 outfitted with sport catalytic converters and a titanium exhaust system from Boden Auto Haus. When it was brand new, this setup was capable of producing 572 hp and 479 ft lbs of torque that was split between all four wheels by its gearbox. Thanks to all that power, the car could rocket from zero to 60 in 3.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 206 mph. The car has just 9,000 miles on it, so those numbers should still be attainable.

The supercar is also finished in a gleaming coat of Nero Pegaso and rides on a set of 18-inch Speedline multi-piece wheels, but comes with a spare set of 18-inch Hemera alloy rims. Flip up its scissor doors and you’ll find a two-seat interior covered in Nero Perseus leather. In typical Lambo fashion, the cabin is cramped, but it does feature a CD stereo, climate control, and, most importantly of all, a gated shifter.

Intrigued? With eight days left to go in the auction, bidding has already surpassed $300,000. We’ve seen manual Murciélago command seven-figure gavel prices in recent years, so don’t be surprised to see that number grow between now and next Wednesday, May 28.
