However, his career in the entertainment industry really only began after he participated in the tenth season of Academy Fantasia, a popular Thai singing competition. Patravadi’s love of theatre began when she saw a ballet performance in Thailand that creatively blended Eastern and Western styles. Although working in the theatre in Thailand that time was not considered prestigious, she decided to pursue her passion. She began with fashion design, modelling, and some acting until a producer approached her to do a live play on television.

Her performance caught the attention of a director who offered her a role in a film. This led to her debut in No Paradise for You, playing a middle-aged 45 year-old woman. This movie won her Best Actress at the Takkata Thong Awards in 1973, Thailand’s equivalent of the Oscars. Patravadi also received the National Artist in Performing Arts award in 2014. More recently, in 2018, she played the role of the matriarchal grandmother in the Thai-Chinese drama In Family We Trust.
