2022 Oscar Nominations: All the Shocking Snubs and Surprises
The Academy is keeping us on our toes when it comes the 2022 Oscars.
Back in February, when Leslie Jordan and Tracee Ellis Ross announced the nominees, fans learned Kristen Stewart had finally earned her first ever nod thanks to her portrayal of Princess Diana in Spencer. (She joins other first-time nominees such as Beyoncé, Kirsten Dunst, Jessie Buckley, Ariana DeBose and Aunjanue Ellis.)
But while Stewart took a bow, Nightmare Alley‘s Bradley Cooper and House of Gucci‘s Lady Gaga couldn’t say the same as both did not earn nominations in any of the acting categories despite receiving critical acclaim for their performances.
The singer still found a million reasons to celebration, especially when the film’s hairstylist Frederic Aspiras scored a nomination. “I could not be happier for a man I call my brother,” she wrote on Instagram. ” And to all the nominees this year, congratulations on all your hard work, dedication, your nomination and YOUR magic—you all deserve major recognition for what was a truly beautiful landscape of performances and accomplishments this past year.”
