He is known worldwide for his glamorous dresses , gown designs and love of creating bridal dresses described to be breathtaking masterpieces that make women feel like they are in a fairytale dream. Murad is known for having unique skills , gifted in the art of making women feel like princesses .
Murad is has a famously known for paying extremely close attention to every detail of the female form when creating his masterpieces . His thoroughness and attention to detail has made him a fashion legend . His cuts and designs are created with the intention to highlight the natural shape of the woman wearing them. His pursuit of silhouettes that flatter the female form has made him dominate haute couture and bridal stakes for decades . Murad’s bridal couture is indeed legendary in every sense especially among the elite , royals and Hollywood stars who have been clamoring to wear his lavish creations since he first revealed his talent decades ago .
Recently in 2022 the Hollywood Star Jennifer Lopez wore a Zuhair Murad exquisite unique bridal dress accompanied by an extravagant, shimmering veil for her onscreen wedding in the valentines romantic comedy film “Marry Me” , Stars like Beyoncé , Ivana Trump , Adele , Vanessa Williams , Taylor Swift , Cheryl , Marion Catillard , Anna Ortiz , Carrie Underwood , Katy Perry , Christina Applegate , Kristen Stewart , Najwa Karam , Jewel , Miley , Fergie , Cyrus and many more have been seen wearing his dresses.
Princess Al Taweel of Saudi Arabia was spotted wearing his creation at the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Duchess of Cambridge. He has also designed the dress of Chloe Mortoud who is Miss France for Miss Universe in 2009 and 5 dresses for the final of Miss France 2010 . At the 2012 Toronto Film Festival Kristen Stewart wore for a screening of her 2012 film and also for the premier of her in Los Angeles “The Twilight Saga“
Zuhair Murad was born Ras Baalbek in Lebanon to a Melkite Catholic Family , he starting drawing dresses from the age of 3 years old , when he turned ten, he began making fashion illustrations and around fifteen years old he knew his destiny was to design fashion as a career . In his early age he was inspired by Balenciaga , Balmain and Christian Dior . After graduating high school he moved to France to obtain his degree in fashion from an institute in Paris . In 1997 he opened his first atelier in Beirut , in a very short time his private client list grew rapidly for his reputation of creating dazzling dresses and extensive lines which encompass haute couture , ready to wear and accessories .
Just four years later, Murad made his debut at Haute Couture Week in Paris , expanding his influence and recognition worldwide . Murad has a total of two boutiques and a showroom , the first in first in Beirut on Charles Helou Avenue , the second on rue Francois I in Paris and his showroom is in Milan on the the Via Borgogna. Murad made his first appearance on the catwalks of Rome in 1999 with an acclaimed collection that led to his participation in the Italian calendar . During his long fashion career Murad’s dresses have been spotted endlessly on the screen worn by the biggest stars .
At the 2010 Emmy Oscars Christina Aguilera , Wanda Sykes , Nina Dobrey and singer Jewel were seen wearing Zuhair Murad Dresses . Miley Cyrus wore his creations at the Academy Awards and Jennifer Lopez at 2011 Golden Globe Awards . In 2012, Zuhair Murad was elected to be a guest member at the Haute Couture calendar by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. His masterpieces have long been a fixture at star-studded events, including the Golden Globes and Oscars , as seen on Jennifer Lopez , Adele , Taylor Swift and Priyanka Chopra , also in music videos featuring multi-platinum singer Najwa Karam .
French actress Marion Marion Cotillard wore a floral Zuhair Murad dress from his Fall 2012 collection at the 2013 Critics Choice Awards . Blake Lively also wearing a Zuhair Murad dress at the worldwide premier of her movie “ Savages “ in Los Angeles . Priyanka Chopra wore a white glamorous strapless gown by Zuhair Murad at the Oscars in 2016 catching the attention everyone . Murad has rolled out a global footprint expanding to include more than 150 points-of-sale, showrooms, boutiques and leading luxury department stores in the major cities from Milan , Paris , London , Dubai to all over the world.
Murad can you tell Lavish Life what Is one of your proudest moments?
I can say one of my proudest moments was at the Red Carpet when Jennifer Lopez wore a Zuhair Murad masterpiece dress at Met Gala in 2010 .
Can you tell us more about the masterpiece dress worn by Jennifer Lopez?
Jennifer Lopez dress took more than 1000 hours of work , from designing it , to hand embroidery and carefully crafting , we had to look at every detail carefully to make sure it would be unique in every way . Jennifer Lopez looked glorious in the dress that night , her stunning beauty with the dress I believe stole the show .
Murad do you believe times are changing in Fashion?
I think we are in an era of competitiveness which the world has never seen before between fashion houses and leading brands , many designers have turned their back on couture.
Murad what is your favorite sentence which can describe your creations?
I have always stated , “It’s about sensuality and femininity, along with a touch of glamour,”
Murad you are gifted with the talent to create bridal gowns which makes a woman feel like a Princess, who is one of your most memorable brides that wore a Zuhair Murad wedding dress?
I can definitely say one of my most memorable brides is actress Sofia Vergara at her wedding in Florida , it took us close to 1657 hours to craft its 350 hand-beaded crystals and its hundreds of pearls on her baroque embroidered wedding dress .
Murad you have an extreme busy schedule always traveling between Paris , Italy and all over the world . How do you spend your free time to relax?
Good question , when I find time to relax , I enjoy it at my house in the hills of Beit Mery in Lebanon . I love nature waking up to the view of mountains , I like to walk in my garden and read books
