Editors Notes: It might not have his name on the box, but you can see just from looking at ASICS’ new sneaker that Kiko Kostadinov had a hand in producing it.

The CSM graduate is known best amongst sneaker fanatics for his collaborations with the Japanese footwear label, adding experimental cues to its range of technical runners. Since his design agency joined the label’s in-house team much has stayed the same in terms of the fire sneakers they are producing, however, they’re now finally available as general release’s with lower price points.

The result has been bangers such as a “Pink Rave/Olive Canvas” pair of FB1-S’s and a stealthy grey 2000s-esque runner and joining the pack is ASICS’ latest sneaker, the HN2-S Protoblast.

Produced in tandem with the Kiko Kostadinov Studio, the bulky sneaker has a retro-futuristic look that merges together aspects from Asics’ vast sneaker arsenal: the upper bears a resemblance to the GEL-100 series, while the tooling and the toe reference the GELHOOP 6 volleyball shoe, and the cushioning mirrors that of the Novablast 2 runner.

Cut and pasting the best bits from some of ASICS’ most popular silhouettes, the sneaker is then given a blue makeover which the label describes as “Evergreen/Shaded Spruce.” As with the collaborations that started their relationship together, Kiko’s knack for making bold colorways highly desirable is on display.

Releasing alongside this new silhouette is a range of new takes on ASICS’ well-known footwear selection. Check out the full collection below.
