Photography - Garden 1I got a hasty picture of this guy today:

Six Spotted Green Tiger Beetle – Cicindela sexguttata
I have known these were beneficial because I’ve watched them kill and eat other, smaller bugs and they’re just so gorgeously colored!  I’m glad there are lots around this year.  I’ve just discovered the name and lo and behold, I do see 6 spots on this guy’s butt!  Apparently they can be spotless, with more spots or even blue, but mine are all green.  I will just have to check on the spots now when I see them.  They are difficult to photograph because they get very nervous when you get close to them with a lens.  I will keep trying, I don’t think this one is the best I can do because he was scampering away from me!
Photography - Garden 2This is a giant allium fully open.  So many tiny flowers!
Below is a close-up of the bridal veil bush in full bloom.  The heavy scent just surrounded me during the shots I took.
It’s a great time for garden photography.
