Phoebe Dynevor Spy Thriller ‘Inheritance’ Lands at IFC Films

IFC Films has nabbed rights to the spy thriller Inheritance, which hails from Divergent director Neil Burger and stars Phoebe Dynevor and Rhys Ifans. IFC has set a theatrical release date of Jan. 24, 2025 for the project.

Dynevor stars as Maya, who learns that her father was once a spy and soon becomes embroiled in an international conspiracy. “In her quest for answers, Maya becomes a target and must travel the globe, mastering her father’s skills and unraveling the mysteries of his past, in this gripping espionage thriller,” according to the logline.

The globe-trotting film shot in New York City, Delhi, Seoul and Cairo, and has a script from Burger and Olen Steinhauer.

“I’m very happy to be working with Scott Shooman and the team at IFC on the release of this wild film,” said Burger. “It was a true adventure to make – shooting around the world and taking risks to achieve the ‘you are there’ feel.  Phoebe delivers a phenomenal performance in the movie, and I’m looking forward to audiences seeing her as they’ve never seen her before.”

Burger produced the project Bill Block and Charles Miller. Shooman negotiated for IFC Films, which is backed by AMC Networks. CAA Media Finance negotiated on behalf of the filmmakers.

Inheritance is an absorbing spy thriller which invigorates the espionage genre with a fresh cinematic approach and a knockout, gritty performance from Phoebe Dyneovor.  I’ve been a massive fan of Neil’s for years and we are thrilled to collaborate on this movie and give audiences the chance to see it in theaters at the start of the new year,” said Head of AMC Networks’ Film Group, Scott Shooman.

Dynevor broke through with the Netflix hit Bridgerton, and went on to star in Fair Play. Next year, she will also be in theaters with the shark thriller Beneath the Storm, which Sony will release in August.
