KPop Demon Hunters Soundtrack Hits No. 1 on Billboard 200

KPop Demon Hunters have hit yet another milestone – topping the Billboard 200 chart nearly three months after its release.

The soundtrack, initially released in June with a deluxe version released on Sept. 5, hit No. 1 on the album chart Sunday, according to Billboard. It previously sat at No. 2 on the chart.

The film’s lead single, “Golden,” has been sitting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Three other songs from the film are in the Hot 100 top 10. “Your Idol” and “Soda Pop,” sung by the film’s fictional boy group Saja Boys, sit at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, and Huntrix’s “How It’s Done” sits at No. 9 on the chart.

EJAE, Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna, who voice the characters of Rumi, Zoey and Mira in the hit Netflix and Sony Animation movie KPop Demon Hunters, presented the album of the year award to Sabrina Carpenter for Short ‘N Sweet at last week’s MTV Video Music Awards. “These past few months have been crazy and amazing, such an incredible ride for us,” EJAE told the crowd when the trio walked onto the stage.

The animated feature has become Netflix’s most popular title ever. The project — which chronicles the adventures of Huntrix, a K-pop girl group composed of three members who just happen to also fight monsters from the underworld — has been a surprise hit for the streamer, and its soundtrack has spent several weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that a sequel film is in talks at Netflix and Sony Animation.
