Ram Unveils a New Street Truck Called the 1500 Rumble Bee
Ram has been separate of Dodge for well over a decade, but that doesn’t mean it’s forgotten the allure of street racing.
The Detroit automaker just unveiled a new muscle truck called the 1500 Rumble Bee. The pickup, which is being positioned as a direct rival to the Ford F-150 Lobo, will be available with three different Hemi V-8, the most powerful of which makes 777 hp.
Ram’s history with street trucks reaches back decades. Back in the late 1970s, Dodge released the Li’l Red Express, a pickup so noisy it couldn’t be sold in several states, including California, Florida and Maryland. In the 1990s, there was the mid-size Dodge Dakota R/T, which was followed, a decade later, by the Viper-powered SRT 10. Because of this, it’s easy to view the Rumble Bee as another example of RAM CEO Tim Kuniskis, who brought back the legendary Hemi V-8 last year, trying to get the brand back in touch with its roots.

Three versions high-performance truck will be available at launch: the standard Rumble Bee, the Rumble Bee 392, and the Rumble Bee SRT. The base model comes with a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 called the “Eagle” that makes 395 hp and 410 ft lbs of torque, while the mid-tier version is equipped with a 6.2-liter called the “Apache” that makes 470 hp and 455 ft lbs of torque. Both mills are connected to a eight-speed automatic transmission.
These trucks can more than hold their own on the street or track, but the range-topping Rumble Bee SRT takes things to another level entirely. It comes with a 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat Hemi V-8 that pumps out a ridiculous 777 hp and 680 ft lbs of torque. Thanks to all that grunt, which is sent to all four wheels via a more robust eight-speed automatic gearbox, the pickup can sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, which is an absurd time for a full-size truck. Ram also says the targeting a top speed of 170 mph, according to Motor1.com, which would be a record for a pickup.

In classic muscle truck fashion, each version of the Rumble Bee is clad in an aggressive body kit. The most absurd of these packages is, of course, the one worn by the SRT. It includes a new front splitter, aero shields, and a rear spoiler. These elements are also available to 392 buyers who opt for the Track Package add-on. Dedicated street trucks tend to be two-seaters but ever Rumble Bee coms with a quad cab and shortened bed.
Already imagining yourself burning rubber in a 1500 Rumble Bee? The standard version is set to go on sale later this year, with the 392 and SRT following in early 2027. Pricing has yet to be set, but seems likely that the top-of-the-line pickup will carry a six-figure cost.
