Emirates Just Unveiled a Swanky New Lounge Concept

Emirates is giving you a new luxe space to unwind ahead of your time in the skies.

The U.A.E-based airline is rolling out its next-gen lounges at key airport hubs around the world, starting with both Munich and Frankfurt, it announced on Tuesday. The company is splashing down nearly $14 million (or AED 50 million) on each new space to make sure they are up to snuff for its premium clientele.

The new lounges take their design cues from Emirates’s own cabin interiors, as well as the flagship lounges found in Dubai. That means you can expect plenty of gold, marble, and red throughout, paired alongside herringbone floors and motifs of the Ghaf, the U.A.E.’s national tree. Elsewhere, you’ll find Rolex clocks perched on the wall, showing off time zones around the globe, Italian eco-leather seating, and an artefact wall that pays homage to local artisans of each locale. The space also offers up more of both private areas and communal spaces, letting you choose whether you’d like to be a bit more social (or not) pre-flight.

And if you’re looking to freshen up in between flights, you can use the lounge’s upgraded shower suites, complete with products from luxe skincare brand Voya—or head to the Quiet Zone to get some shut eye during your layover. The space will also be imbued with Emirates signature scent, which has notes of bergamot, citrus, and soft wood.

In terms of dining, the focus will be on international cuisines and live cooking. Chefs will keep the lounge’s location in mind, whipping up local specialties, while a hot and cold buffet station is always up for grabs. There’s also a bread oven, which will be used to make handcrafted pizzas, flatbreads, and manakeesh, in an homage to Dubai.

“These new lounges have been designed to combine refreshed luxurious interiors with the elevated hospitality and innovation that Emirates is known for—a space for our customers to relax, enjoy, dine and prepare for their travel in comfort,” Adel Al Redha, the deputy president and COO of Emirates, said in a press statement.

The lounge concept will spread beyond Germany soon enough. New spaces will make its debut in Manchester this July, with more opening in Mauritius and Istanbul this August and October, respectively.
