Explora Journeys Delivered ‘Explora III,’ Its Largest Vessel Yet

The largest vessel yet from Explora Journeys is finally here.

Explora III was just delivered at Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente shipyard in Genoa this week. The new vessel stretches about 63 feet longer than its sisterships Explora I and II, putting its total size at 879 feet for even more room onboard.

“Today marks another proud milestone for Explora Journeys as we officially welcome Explora III into our growing fleet. With every new ship, we have the opportunity to listen, learn, and refine, building on what our guests value most while remaining true to the vision that defines our brand,” Anna Nash, president of Explora Journeys, said in a press statement.

The standout among its accommodations, which include 463 suites, 109 Penthouses, and 39 Ocean Residences, are the two Owner’s Residences. The pair each come with 3,014 square feet of interior space with a 1,345-square-foot terrace; one was even designed by the famed Patricia Urquiola (with its own steam room, too). Elsewhere, you’ll find seven restaurants, 12 bars and lounges, a Chopard boutique, and three outdoor pools to enjoy as you take one of Explora’s high-end journeys across the globe.

And Explora III is hitting the ground (sea?) running. The new vessel is embarking on its one-time Mediterranean Prelude Journey today until July 29. The exclusive adventure starts off in Genoa, taking guests on a preview of the ship as they sail from Marseille to Saint-Tropez and eventually end in Civitavecchia, outside Rome. The vessel’s first official trip, though, will begin on August 3, when it heads out of Barcelona on a seven-night trek to Lisbon.

Explora Journeys also has its eyes on its next vessels, too, with Explora IV, Explora V (expected to debut in Asia in 2028), and Explora VI currently under construction to complete its six-fleet family. But if you’re looking to spend even more time on the water while you wait, the travel company is serving up an around-the-world journey that will take you to four continents and 63 destinations in 128 days—though your home base will be aboard Explora I.
