This Rare Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 Could Fetch $3 Million at Auction

Lamborghini is renowned for its limited-edition supercars. One of its most celebrated is, without doubt, the sensational Sián FKP 37 debuted in 2019. The model was the very first production Raging Bull to incorporate hybridization, complementing the Sián’s 6.5-liter V-12 with a 48-volt electric motor to deliver a total of 808 hp. Naturally, the car provides astonishing performance, clocking in a zero-to-60 mph sprint in less than 2.8 seconds and reaching a 217 mph top speed.

It has impressive exclusivity too, with just 19 roadsters and 63 coupes (a tribute to the marque’s founding year of 1963) emerging from the automaker’s factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese. Fittingly, the “Sián” name loosely translates to “lightning” or the notion of a sudden burst. As for the “FKP 37” portion of the moniker, it references Ferdinand Karl Piëch, former chairman of the Volkswagen Group, and the year he was born.

The original pricing for the Sián ranged from $3.6 million to $3.8 million. Of course, all were sold before the first car was delivered. Now one of those fabled 63 coupes, a car with just 284 miles on the odometer and over $262,000 in options, is being offered by Broad Arrow Auctions during next month’s Monterey Car Week in Northern California.

“This car takes the Sián’s significance one step further, with single ownership from new, incredibly low miles, and a wild, unique Ad Personam specification that we know serious hypercar collectors are after in today’s market,” Alexander Weaver, vice president and senior car specialist for Broad Arrow Auctions, tells Robb Report. “With just 63 built, the car is rare to begin with, and rarer still at auction,” he adds.

The color scheme alone sets it apart. Bianco Asopo with a fading Grigio Liqueo, complemented by Verde Lampros accents. That’s Lamborghini-speak for white with light gray shading and touches of electric lime green. Add to this a $105,000 carbon package and over $157,000 in exterior features from Lamborghini’s Ad Personam custom catalog.

Inside, it’s a sea of Poltrona Frau leather—presented in Lamborghini’s Nero Cosmus color—and suede-like Alcantara, along with carbon fiber for the door panels, instrument binnacle, steering wheel, and paddle shifters. Splashes of that electric green also adorn the center console. According to Weaver, the car was delivered new in March 2021 to Los Angeles and its only owner. In April of this year, the car went to Lamborghini of Newport, in Irvine, Calif., for a comprehensive service that cost close to $16,000.

Based heavily on the track-focused Aventador SVJ, the Sián’s electric hybrid technology is what set it apart at the time of its introduction. The 34 hp electric motor, incorporated into the seven-speed, single-clutch transmission, adds a dose of instant accelerative torque at speeds up to 80 mph.

Ingenious is the Sián’s use of a lightweight super capacitor instead of a conventional battery pack. At the time, Lamborghini claimed it was three times more powerful than a lithium-ion battery of the same weight. It can also be recharged through regenerative braking. Back in 2019, the hybrid unit made the Sián the most powerful production Lamborghini to date, and one with the lowest weight-to-power ratio of any of the marque’s V-12 family.

When Robb Report test drove the car in 2021, our reviewer, Jeremy Taylor, wrote: “Compared to Lamborghini’s Aventador, which is solely reliant on 12 cylinders, the Sián’s added electric jolt is plenty noticeable. As quickly as a thunderbolt silencing a crowd, it quiets any doubts about the Raging Bull’s first production foray into hybridization.” 

The Sián’s lightning-fast performance is complemented by equally dramatic looks. With hints of the original Countach, it comes with  trapezoidal front intakes, high-lifting scissor doors, side-mounted vents, and intricate Y-beam headlights first seen on the all-electric Terzo Millennio concept car from 2017. 

The Sián boasts handling to match its outrageous performance, with electronically controlled Haldex four-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, push-rod-operated twin-wishbone suspension, and braking with carbon-ceramic rotors and massive calipers (six-piston at the front, four-piston in back).

“With the auction car’s rarity, striking specification, and collector mileage, it would certainly be a worthy addition to any curated stable of landmark Lamborghini models, or other top-shelf hypercars,” adds Weaver.

The Sián will be offered at Broad Arrow’s two-day Quail Auction, and will cross the block on August 14 during the popular Quail: A Motorsport Gathering exhibition. A quick internet search shows that, back in May, the car was put on consignment with Los Angeles–based exotics dealer Exclusive Motorcars and given a $3.2 million asking price. It didn’t sell. Now, Broad Arrow has it valued between $2.5 million and $3.0 million.
