Daniel Craig’s Old Land Rover Series II Is up for Grabs
It’s not every day one gets the chance to add an off-roader fit for Agent 007, or at least one of the men who played him on the silver screen, to their collection.
A 1959 Land Rover 109 Series II once owned by Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz is currently up for bid on Bring a Trailer. The pickup-style 4×4 looks like something out of a James Bond movie and even comes with a signed note from the actor who most recently portrayed the beloved character.
Jeep and Toyota may disagree, but it’s hard to think of an off-roader as iconic as the original Land Rover. It was the first mass-produced civilian four-wheel drive vehicle with doors and a roof and married utility and style like nothing before it, paving the way for today’s luxury 4x4s. It was in production from 1948 until 1985, during which time four different generations (Series I, II, IIA, and III) were released.

Craig and Weisz’s Land Rover dates to year two of the model’s second generation. The truck, which features a 109-inch wheelbase, has been repainted in Bronze Greene, rides on 16-inch body-matching steel wheels wrapped in knobby off-road tires, and comes equipped with several accessories, including a rope winch, canvas bed cover, and side steps. The interior, meanwhile, features reupholstered tan vinyl seats with modern three-point seatbelts and plenty of storage in the back. The vehicle is powered by a 2.25-liter inline-four connected to a four-speed manual and a dual-range transfer case. The mill was factory rated to 77 hp and 124 ft lbs of torque. The listing also notes that odometer shows 3,800 miles, but that the vehicle’s true mileage is unknow.
As beautiful as the vehicle may be, what really makes it special is its provenance. And there’s no question that this Series II once belonged to Craig and Weisz. In addition to the usual paperwork, the vehicle comes with a note signed by the actor who portrayed Bond in the last five entries in the popular spy movie franchise and an autographed photo of him as the character.

“This is to say that this beautiful Land Rover Defender was ours,” Craig wrote in the note, a photo of which is included in the auction listing. “We sell it with great sadness. Please take care of it.”
