This Stunning 2022 Ferrari Daytona SP3 Could Fetch $13 Million

If this searing-yellow Ferrari Daytona SP3 looks vaguely familiar, it might be due to the fact that this was Maranello’s official, high-profile press demonstrator. During the second half of 2022, it was featured prominently in reviews by Car and Driver, Road & Track, and Britain’s Motor Sport magazines. Robb Report piloted it around Belgium, and the famed TV show Top Gear reviewed it in what would be its final episode.

One of the 600 examples of the V-12-engined Daytona SP3 built, this left-hand-drive vehicle came off the line in June of 2022. Finished in striking three-coat Giallo Triplo Strato paint with an interior wearing leather dressed in Rosso Ferrari red, this Daytona SP3 came with a removable carbon-fiber hardtop, airbrushed Scuderia shields on the doors, and red brake calipers sitting behind five-spoke 20-inch forged-alloy wheels. There’s also the coveted “Vettura Di Sviluppo“ plaque between the seats denoting this was a factory-development car.

Following its press duties, this SP3 went back to the factory to continue engineering work before being offered for sale with top U.K. Ferrari dealer H.R. Owen. In March of 2025, it was acquired by a secretive British collector—its first and only private owner. Now this pristine Daytona SP3, with an arguably lofty 2,948 miles on its odometer, will be crossing the block at the London Auction presented by RM Sotheby’s on October 31.

“Daytona SP3s are going to be among the most collectible, most valuable Ferraris of all time, and this example, being a former Ferrari development car and having so much press coverage, has a very special provenance,” Harvey Stanley, director of Private Sales for RM Sotheby’s, tells Robb Report.

“What is especially appealing about this car is that it was configured by Ferrari designers, and not by an individual buyer to their taste. Add to that, the fact that it is in absolutely perfect condition,” Stanley mentions.

Introduced to the world in 2022, the Daytona SP3 paid homage to Ferrari’s mid-engined sports prototype racers of the 1960s. The SP3 name itself reflects Ferrari’s 1-2-3 finish in the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona race, turning the tables on Ford after being humiliated by the Detroit automaker the year before at Le Mans. Like the Ford GT40s, the Ferraris replicated the three-abreast victory.

Inspired by those 1960s legends, the SP3—based loosely on the LaFerrari platform—features a wraparound windshield, muscular wheel arches, a removable carbon-fiber roof panel, and a distinctive slatted body section at the rear. Powering the model is a variation of the 6.5-liter V-12 used in Ferrari’s 812 Superfast and La Ferrari supercars. The most powerful naturally aspirated production engine in Ferrari’s history, it produces 829 hp—enough to punch this 3,240-pound two-seater from zero to 62 mph in 2.85 seconds, and on to a top speed of 211 mph. At the time, it boasted more horsepower than Formula 1 or Can-Am race cars.

The SP3 was the third in Ferrari’s super-exclusive, invitation-only Icona series that blended modern drivetrains with retro-themed bodywork. It followed on from the Monza SP1 monoposto and SP2 two-seater, both introduced in 2018. When launched, the SP3 reportedly came with a $2.2 million price tag.

RM Sotheby’s puts this auction car’s estimated value between $10 million and $13 million, which Stanley considers to be “not a big price tag.” He points to the rare “Tailor Made” Daytona SP3, that the auction house sold at its 2025 Monterey auction for $26 million. But that was a sale for charity. The result that Stanley feels is more representative of the car’s value was the figure fetched for a yellow SP3 showing just 227 miles. During this past Monterey Car Week, that example sold through RM Sotheby’s for $17.825 million.

“I think there is an urgency right now for serious Ferrari collectors to buy an SP3, simply because it’s common knowledge that there is an SP4 on the way,” says Stanley. “And to get an allocation for that car, many buyers believe it’s necessary to own an SP3.”
