A GM Defense ISV-U Will Be Auctioned Off for the First Time Next Week

Here’s one way to add some variety to you auto collection.

Next week, the first GM Defense ISV-U to be auctioned off publicly will cross the block as part of Barrett-Jackson’s annual Palm Beach sale. If that wasn’t intriguing enough, all proceeds from the sale will go to the Medal of Honor Foundation.

The ISV-U, or Infantry Squad Vehicle-Utility, isn’t your grandfather’s Jeep. Unveiled last year, the tactical 4×4 is a variant of the original ISV from 2020. It is based on the mid-size Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 truck and designed to quickly transport infantrymen in combat situations. But, while the first was made to carry nine troops, the new version only has room for five, with the rearmost seating replaced by a cargo bed that can be adapted for any number of mission profiles.

The ISV-U features an open roll-cage design meant to make entering and exiting the off-roader a breeze. The example up for sale is a one-off build finished in olive green topped with a special livery that honors the Medal of Honor and commemorates America’s 250th anniversary. Each ISV-U is powered by a 2.8-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine that makes 275 hp and 420 ft lbs of torque , which is split to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to all that grunt, the vehicle can carry a 3,200-pound payload, despite being light enough—it has a 4,900-pound curb weight—to be transported by helicopter. It’s the kind of vehicle that collectors dream of, but there is a catch: it can’t be registered or driven on public roads.

Those not dissuaded by this fact will also get a chance to help out a good cause. All proceeds from the sale will go to the Medal of Honor Foundation, a non-profit that secures private support for living recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor and their families.

“This vehicle was designed to help soldiers accomplish their missions in the toughest conditions, and we’re proud that its first public sale will directly support the Foundation’s work to care for Recipients, preserve their stories and inspire future generations with the values embodied in the Medal of Honor,” Steve Dumont, the president of GM Defense, said in a statement.

The one-off 2026 GM Defense ISV-U will go up for bid during Barrett-Jackson’s Palm Beach auction, which runs from Thursday, April 16, to Saturday, April 18. No estimate has been announced for the vehicle, but don’t be surprised if it goes for a pretty penny based on past charity auctions.
