A Koenigsegg Agera Could Fetch .4 Million at Auction

It’s about to be a happy new year for at least one Koenigsegg collector.

A rare example of the marque’s Agera hypercar is set to hit the auction block at RM Sotheby’s on February 4, Hypebeast reported on Monday. Built in 2011 for a German-based customer, the 950-hp beast is expected to hammer down for as much as $2.4 million.

Designed in 2010, the Agera features LED-enveloped headlights, integrated taillights, a five-liter V-8 engine, and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Just seven versions of the hypercar were created by Koenigsegg, and the one coming to auction has become known as the Agera “X” by fans of the vehicle. This example is distinguished by its two-tiered Formula 1–inspired rear wing, as well as the exposed, matte carbon-fiber bodywork—finished in satin, believed to be a first for the factory.

Elsewhere, the exterior is decked out with red “claw” stripes on the front clamshell. Those stripes come with white borders, meant to evoke the pinstripes on the nine-spoke, turbine-style Vortex Generating Rims, which were designed to increase downforce and improve brake cooling. Originally, the interior of the vehicle contained white leather, but a 2020 refit updated the cabin with black leather and Alcantara with red stitching. In a nod to the marque’s Swedish origins, the colors of that country’s flag have been incorporated into the seats.

With just more than 20,000 kilometers on the odometer, the Agera X is in close-to-prime condition. And it recently underwent service at an official Koenigsegg dealership in Munich. Its high estimate of $2.4 million is in keeping with other Koenigseggs that have hit the auction block as of late, too: Just last month, a 1,018-hp prototype from the marque achieved an estimate of $2.3 million. And earlier this year, a Regera billed as one of the fastest cars in the world came alongside expectations of $2.8 million.

The Agera X is sitting squarely between those two rides. And in February, a collector may decide that it really does live up to its name, which means “ageless” in Greek and “to take action” in Swedish. Bidders will soon have to do the latter to get their hands on the unique vehicle.
