Asia’s 50 Greatest Eating places 2024: The Chairman Retains its Title as Hong Kong’s High Eatery
The top listers of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024, ranked between 1 and 50, has finally been announced. The Chairman continues to be the leading restaurant in Hong Kong, ranking fourth in the list overall. Chef and owner Danny Yip was previously honoured with the Icon Award for his work in championing and bringing Cantonese cuisine to the global stage.
Sézanne in Tokyo was named the best restaurant in Asia at the live awards ceremony held in Seoul. The restaurant originally debuted at number 17 in 2022, made its wait up to number two last year, and finally took the coveted spot in 2024. This year’s 1-50 list includes restaurants from 19 cities across the region with eight new entries.
Six Hong Kong restaurants make the top 50
In total, Hong Kong secured six spots on the list. Trailing behind The Chairman is Wing at number five which boasts an impressive ascent of 31 places. Thus, it also received the Highest Climber Award 2024. The remaining Hong Kong entries saw significant shifts with Neighbourhood (no. 13) moving 13 places, Mono (no. 31) advancing 14 spots, and Caprice (no. 32) climbing by 17. Meanwhile, Ando, a newcomer to the list, debuted at 37th place.
“It is truly uplifting to witness such a rich array of exceptional dining establishments spanning 19 cities in Asia,” said William Drew, director of content at Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants. The list is created from the votes of 318 experts comprising food writers, critics, chefs, restauranteurs, and regional culinary leaders.
