Award-Winning Lürssen Megayacht ‘Whisper’ Lists for 3 Million

One of the finest yachts to ever leave Lürssen just hit the market. The 312-foot Whisper has been listed for sale exclusively with Will Christie of Christie Yachts, with a fittingly large price tag of 149 million euros, or about $173 million at the current exchange rate.

Delivered in 2014 with the name Kismet, the behemoth was originally built for Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan. The Pakistani-American billionaire has commissioned three custom Lürssen yachts to date, one of which was a 400-footer also called Kismet (the Turkish and Urdu word for “fate” or “destiny”).

Featuring exteriors by Espen Øino International, interiors by Reymond Langton Design, and naval architecture by Lürssen, Whisper (then Kismet) won a prestigious World Superyacht Award in 2015 thanks to its innovative design. Though she has clocked a decade on the water, the yacht was recently treated to an extensive interior refit by Los Angeles-based interior designer Michael S. Smith. The result is lighter, brighter living quarters with a more contemporary feel.

With a sizable beam of 45 feet, Whisper offers ample space for both lounging and entertaining across five decks. The generous interior features a double-height main salon, a large dining room with an 18-seat table, a formal lounge, a cinema that can double as a guest salon, a fully equipped spa, a beauty salon, and a gym with fold-out terraces. It is also outfitted with seven cabins that can collectively sleep up to 12 guests, as well as crew quarters for up to 27. The owner’s suite comes with dual en suites, a walk-in, and a private Jacuzzi.

The exterior decks are nothing to sneeze at, either. The sundeck, for instance, offers a 39-foot pool with an integrated Jacuzzi, a couple of sunbeds, and a bar. Also onboard is a full arsenal of toys and tenders, including Jet Skis, e-foils, Seabobs, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, wakeboards, and a ski boat.

As for grunt, Whisper is powered by twin Caterpillar engines that give her a top speed of 16 knots and a comfortable cruising speed of 13 knots. She also has an impressive range of 7,400 nautical miles when traveling at an economical speed of 12 knots.

“It is always exciting to bring a boat of Whisper’s size, quality, and pedigree to the market,” Christie tells Robb Report. “Given that building a similar boat today would cost well over twice her asking price with a four-to-five-year delivery schedule, this is a rare opportunity to buy one of the finest yachts built in recent years, ready for immediate enjoyment.”

Whisper will be on display during the Monaco Yacht Show in September.
