Bill Maher had quite a lot to say on his latest episode of Real Time about Donald Trump’s guilty verdict in his criminal hush money trial.

On Thursday, a New York jury found the former president guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records. Throughout the five weeks of testimony, the jury heard from a former tabloid publisher, a Hollywood fixer, Trump’s former lawyer and a porn star. Sentencing for Trump is set for July 11.

Maher described Friday’s episode as a “historic show,” seemingly because Trump became the first former president to be convicted of felony crimes.

“Yeah, he’s pretty distraught and pissed off these days,” the host said. “But I gotta say, Don, if there was a silver line to this, you finally did something that made Stormy [Daniels] come.” (The case centered on a sexual encounter that Daniels said she had with Trump in 2006 that resulted in her being paid to keep silent during the 2016 presidential race.)

He added, “You know what they say: don’t do the porn star if you can’t do the time.”

Maher also addressed Trump saying his lawyers are already laying the groundwork for an appeal of the charges and rulings.

“Their big talking point today is, ‘If they do it to me, this could happen to anyone,’” the comedian said while imitating Trump’s voice. “Yes, of course. I’ll have to remember that next time I’m cheating on my third wife with a porn star to pay her off when I’m running for president.”

Maher later noted how “distraught” Trump supporters and some Republicans were following the former president’s guilty verdict, adding that they’re trying to “buck him up” now.

“Did you see when he walked out of the trial after the verdict? They’re all out there singing, ‘For he’s a jolly good felon / for he’s a jolly good felon,’” the host joked. “Remember all those Republicans who were dressing like him? Yeah, now they’re all in orange jumpsuits. I mean, it’s very weird.”

The guests featured on the latest episode of Real Time were John Waters, Ken Buck and David Axelrod.
