Brabus Is Turning Its Latest Ultra-Exclusive G-Wagen Into a Pickup

Brabus doesn’t see why a pickup can’t be a luxury vehicle.
The German tuner has just unveiled an update of the already glammed-out XLP 800 Adventure. The build is an attempt to reimagine the G-Wagen-based truck that turned so many heads earlier this decade and take it to even more absurd heights.
The off-road-ready XLP 800 Adventure, like its SUV sibling, the XL 800, is based on the latest version of the Mercedes-AMG G63. Both vehicles are finished in a glossy coat of black, wear a typically aggressive Brabus body kit, and look identical until you get to the C-pillar, which is the point where they begin to separate. That’s because the pickup, which rides on 22-inch monoblock wheels, has a custom truck bed in back. To accommodate this major design change, the wheelbase was extended by 19.7 inches, new custom carbon-fiber side panels and tailgate were created, and the bed’s surface has been lined with the same “Soft-Teak” material used in the tuner’s speedboats. It does lack the SUV’s rear wing but gains a roof rack (which can be equipped with a tent) and roll bars. The result is one of the most visually striking trucks you will ever see.

The interior has also been given the full Brabus treatment. The entire cabin is done up, from floor to ceiling, in Sky Blue leather and Alcantara. The color, which was chosen specifically to contrast with the vehicle’s exterior, isn’t the only luxe touch. There is also plenty of carbon-fiber trim, seat inserts, and door panels that feature “Diamond Double” quilting, and Brabus branding and badges nearly everywhere you look.
Brabus is a tuner, first and foremost, so it also put work into upgrading the powertrain. AMG’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 now makes 800 hp and 737 ft lbs of torque, increases of 123 hp and 110 ft lbs of torque, respectively. Thanks to the boost, the XLP 800 Adventure can hit 60 mph in under five seconds. The truck has also been equipped with a new exhaust system, had its suspension upgraded with portal axles, and its ride height boosted to a ridiculous 18.5 inches.

Looking for an over-the-top G-Wagen pickup for your car collection? Prepare to spend big. Brabus is charging just shy of $1 million for the limited-run XLP 800 Adventure. That’s about $800,000 more than the starting price of a standard AMG G63.
