Brad Pitt’s ‘F1’ Movie Just Dropped Its First Full Trailer

Get ready, Formula 1 fans: The first full trailer for Brad Pitt’s hotly anticipated F1 flick is finally here.
Ahead of the 2025 F1 season kickoff in Australia this weekend, Apple Original Films dropped the nearly two-and-a-half-minute video on Thursday. The film, which will hit international theaters on June 25 and head stateside on June 27, hopes to take viewers inside the highs and lows of the Formula 1 universe.
The trailer kicks off with a voice over from Javier Bardem, who plays Ruben Cervantes, the owner of a struggling F1 team called APXGP. He’s trying to convince former Formula 1 driver Sonny Hayes (Pitt), who has been dubbed “the best that never was,” to come join his team for one last shot at glory. While many people may see him as a has-been, Ruben says, all he sees in Sonny is “possibility.”
From there, the video kicks out into a flurry of racktracks, speeding black-and-gold speeding race cars, and plenty of tension, backed by the smooth vocals of Fleetwood Mac on their hit “The Chain.” Sonny does end up joining the ranks of APXGP, but he’s working alongside rookie racer Joshua Pierce (played by Damson Idris), who butts heads with Sonny on their way to inching up the grid and cementing themselves in the F1 legacy. Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo also star in the film.

The new movie is the brainchild of producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Joseph Kosinki—the same duo that worked together on Top Gun: Maverick. The team made sure to collaborate with F1 (including all 10 teams, the drivers, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, and race promoters) to create an authentic, accurate racing film that truly captures the spirit of the sport. They even tapped seven-time F1 champ Lewis Hamilton to help produce the film.
And that attention to detail can definitely be seen in the lead-up to the film’s release. The team shot the movie at every race from the British Grand Prix back in 2023 to make the flick feel as realistic as possible. Pitt himself hopped behind the wheel at the Silverstone racetrack, undergoing around five months of driver training to take on the role.
“In fact, some of the F1 drivers said he’s a natural athlete,” Bruckheimer said in an interview last year. “He really is. He’s amazing in that car.”
Pitt also stopped by the Las Vegas Grand Prix in November and the Mexico City Grand Prix in October to shoot some scenes for F1. To properly capture all the action, Oscar-winning cinematographer Claudio Mirando worked with Sony to develop custom cameras that could film cars whipped around the track at high speeds, mounting the tech directly inside the Mercedes-Benz race cars to put audiences right in the cockpit.
To see if Sonny Hayes ends up coming out on top (and check out all that tech), you’ll have to head to theaters this June.
