CdM’s New 165-Foot Explorer Comes With a Full-Size Pickleball Court
Cantiere delle Marche (CdM) is going the extra mile for one seafarer.
The Italian shipyard just announced it is building one lucky U.S. client a 165-foot explorer with a full-size pickleball court. The yacht, which is the second Flexplorer 165 model CdM has sold, has been tweaked to meet all of the owner’s unique requests and subsequently is quite unlike any other explorers in the range.
Featuring an innovative exterior by HydroTec and a sophisticated interior by Design Unlimited, the newcomer showcases several significant structural modifications that set it apart from the original model. For starters, the overhang on the upper deck was extended to create space for the pickleball court. The court is surrounded by a lightweight carbon-fiber structure with nets that prevent balls from flying overboard. Spectators can watch any matches from the dedicated viewing areas: one is adjacent to the court, the other is located on the sundeck.
The extra length on the upper deck also creates a large shaded area on the main deck below that can hold a 23-foot tender and a couple of Jet Skis. The vessels can be deployed by the overhead crane to transform the space into a luxurious outdoor lounge with a bar, heated pool, and collapsible bulwarks. That’s not all in terms of toys, either: A second, smaller 16-foot tender will reside on the upper deck, two additional Jet Skis will sit on the sundeck, and an Airbus H130 helicopter will be parked on the upper deck. In addition, the yacht has another two storage areas for additional recreational equipment the owner plans to use on water or land.
As for the interior, an elevator connects seafarers to the lower, main, and upper decks. Four guest cabins are located on the lower deck, while the owner’s suite occupies prime position on the main deck. There are also five cabins for crew and a captain’s cabin. The wellness facilities are another highlight: The upper deck features a gym and a massage area, while the sundeck is home to a thermal therapy area with a sauna and an ice bath.
Performance-wise, the Flexplorer 165 is equipped with two Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines that enable a maximum speed of 15 knots and a range of 4,800 nautical miles at 10 knots.
“It’s been a privilege to work with the owner on this project,” CdM’s sales manager Carlo Aquilanti said in a statement. “From our first conversation, it was clear that the Flexplorer 165 was the perfect match for him. We have successfully integrated all his favorite sports activities and his lifestyle into the yacht without any compromises.”
Extra mile, indeed.
