Explora’s Newest Cruise Ship Will Be a Floating Hotel at the Monaco GP
There is never any shortage of big and beautiful superyachts at the Monaco Grand Prix, but one behemoth is set to blow the others out of the water next year.
Explora Journeys, the luxury cruise line helmed by the MSC Group, just announced that its newest ship will be docked in the heart of Monaco’s famous Port Hercule during the race in May 2025. Explora II will occupy a prime position less than 500 feet from the track, allowing guests to enjoy all the high-octane action while in the lap of luxury.
“This is one of the most prestigious events in the calendar, and it is only fitting that this would be where we offer sporting enthusiasts an unforgettable experience that brings together the world of motorsport with the luxury of maritime travel,” Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman, cruise division of MSC Group, said in a statement.
The 814-foot liner will become an elegant floating Monegasque hotel across race weekend, with 461 generous suites providing F1 fans with sweeping views from private ocean-front terraces. More extravagant penthouses and residences are also available for those who really want to splash out.
Guests can expect top-tier service, too. The 12 indoor and outdoor bars and lounges will pour the finest wines and spirits—you get unlimited premium beverages, naturally—while the six restaurants will serve top-notch fare that ranges from Pan-Asian cuisine to classic steakhouse dishes.
The ship will also host a series of spectacular events and offer “vibrant entertainment” over the weekend, according to the Explora team. Guests can also cool off in one of four pools, chill out in a private cabana, relax in the spa, peruse the high-end boutiques, or even work out in the gym. Then, there’s the GP itself. Explora II will be conveniently situated a stone’s throw from the F1 Paddock, so you will be fully immersed in the thrilling sport from qualifying to the final race.
“At Formula 1 we always strive to offer our fans new and incredible experiences that align with our values and elevate our sport,” added Formula 1 president and CEO Stefano Domenicali. “The arrival of Explora II to the Monaco Grand Prix for the first time will offer fans a truly unique and luxury experience that will make this iconic event even more special.”
Explora has created four different Formula 1 itineraries that run between five and 20 nights. Guests can now book via the Explora Journeys website or their preferred travel agent.
