Sylvie McCallum, Chief Marketing Officer at Seafolly and JETS lets us in on the brand and the latest collection that’s dropping this month.
What’s the ethos behind Jets?
Jets is a global, luxury resort lifestyle brand that aims to instill body confidence in women by delivering on our promise of unmatched quality and impeccable fit. Jets continue to pioneer design-led innovation through attention to detail and quality craftsmanship in the swim and resort wear category. We believe in timeless designs that hero fabrication and fit, with classic silhouettes and refined details. Taking inspiration from the lifestyle of the modern jet-setting woman, Jets consciously curates each collection to the highest quality with a focus on longevity.
Tell us about the process from sketch to production.
Concept and color are the foundation of the collection. The following processes are very much determined by this. Starting the collection with an inspiring grounding is key for our designers. We, of course, look to trends and catwalk collections for color inspiration but also take great inspiration from our concept board and key colors already unique to Jets. We then go on to print and shape research, inspired by both the collection concept as well as trend research and day-to-day inspirations. From this, we create prints from scratch whether that be; hand-painted, drawn, or digitally created, these prints are then engineered into the swim shapes we know and love. It is an extremely collaborative, close working process. We like to maintain a beautiful, seamless flow throughout the delivery months in terms of color and merchandising, with this being at the forefront of the design teams’ minds. As the collection develops further and ideas are cemented, the key for us is the quality and fit. Ensuring the height of print quality, raw materials, and garment fit for our loyal customers.
What inspired the new collection?
Resort 24 sees JETS travel to the tip of Italy, exploring the playfulness, indulgence, and spirit of the Italian Summer. Sicily is the leading inspiration behind the collection, showcasing an embodiment of vibrant shades, tantalizing textures, and modernism.
Which are the key pieces, color palette?
In terms of key pieces, as we are known for our black one-piece, our key shapes would have to be our minimal and sleek Jetset swimsuits offered in an array of colors, the most popular being our classic Black. Our Plunge One Piece, Minimal Tank, and Bandeau One Piece are a few great examples and create a strong foundation for our fashion stories also, often being pulled through and re-imagined throughout our collections for those seeking our trusty existing key shapes. Whilst designing the Resort 24 (coined La Dolce Vita) collection, we wanted to celebrate iconic Italian colors as well as align with global runways and trends in the market. We have paired both bold and rich tones throughout, reimagining the timeless and understated. This season’s palette evokes passion, elegance, and informal indulgence with pops of color in a way that will resonate with the customer! Alongside the season’s colors of Rosso, Moss, Ink, Merlot, and Tan, which we feel embody the JETS customer, we have also added pops of Peony Pink, Sunflower Yellow, and Dolce Blue, adding subtle feminine highlights to what we feel is a strong color palette for the season.
Favorite piece and why?
It’s hard to pick just one, but some of my favorites sit in our first drop. Our Sorella One Shoulder One Piece showcases an inspiring pattern with oversized sweeping curves in a cleverly curated color palette (all of which were designed in-house). This particular One Piece has an organic-shaped metallic trim that I love! I’m always drawn to Jets’ geometric prints which the brand is known for. Sorella luckily has a geo collection that matches back, my personal favorite is the Sorella Geo Minimal Tri Top and High Waist Boyleg which features a high shine fabrication that softens the graphic lines and rectangular shapes of the collection.
