Here’s Your Chance to Buy Lamborghini LM002 ‘Rambo Lambo’

The Lamborghini Urus isn’t the only SUV that Raging Bull fans have to choose from.

An example of the company’s first entry in the class, the LM002, is currently up for bid on Bring a Trailer. Not only is the off-roader rare, but this particular example also looks to be in remarkably good shape—especially since it is nearly 40 years old.

Sports cars and supercars have been Lamborghini’s specialty since it began building cars in 1963, but in the 1980s, the marque decided to take a chance and make an SUV, well before the class had become ubiquitous on roads and highways around the globe. That vehicle was the LM002, a boxy, V-12-powered 4×4 initially developed for military use but sold to civilians between 1986 and 1993. Just 301 road-going examples of the LM002 would leave Sant’Agata Bolognese during this time, but one ended up in the collection of one of the era’s biggest movie stars, Sylvester Stallone, earning it the “Rambo Lambo” nickname.

The LM002 up for auction dates back to the 1987 model. It may not be a wedge-shaped supercar, but the muscular vehicle still has the sharp lines and bold styling associated with the brand’s vehicles during this era. The listing says the 4×4 has previously spent time finished in black and camouflage, but is currently sporting a pleasing coat of silver and rides on a matching set of eight-lug 17-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli Scorpio BK tires. The interior is covered in beige leather upholstery and features a number of creature comforts, including air conditioning, power windows, and a period-appropriate roof-mounted cassette player.

The SUV, like the later Countaches, is powered by a 5.2-liter, quad-cam V-12 engine. This wasn’t the most powerful mill available for the LM002—there was also a 7.2-liter 12-cylinder option—but it still makes a respectable 455 hp and 368 ft lbs of torque. This example has a little over 12,200 miles on the odometer and, based on the photos included with the listing, looks to have been well taken care of over the years.
