‘IF,’ ‘Bridgerton’ and This Week’s Best Events

Here’s a look at this week’s biggest premieres, parties and openings in Los Angeles and New York, including events for IF, Bridgerton and Hit Man.

IF premiere

Writer-director John Krasinski joined stars Ryan Reynolds, Steve Carell, Cailey Fleming, Fiona Shaw, Alan Kim, Emily Blunt, Bradley Cooper, Awkwafina, Matt Damon, Amy Schumer, Maya Rudolph, Bobby Moynihan and Christopher Meloni at the New York premiere of IF on Monday.

Bridgerton premiere

Nicola Coughlan, Luke Newton, Claudia Jessie, Adjoa Andoh, Ruth Gemmell, Lorraine Ashbourne, Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey walked the carpet on Monday at the New York premiere of Bridgerton‘s third season.

Bob Mackie: Naked Illusion premiere

The Paley Center for Media hosted the world premiere of documentary Bob Mackie: Naked Illusion in Los Angeles on Monday, featuring a panel discussion with Bob Mackie, Cher, Carol Burnett, Pink and RuPaul Charles.

Hit Man premiere

Glen Powell was teasingly heckled by his parents at the Austin premiere of his Netflix film on Wednesday, as he appeared alongside director Richard Linklater and co-stars Adria Arjona, Retta, Sanjay Rao and Molly Bernard. On Thursday, Powell was inducted into Austin Film Society’s Texas Film Hall of Fame.

Race to Erase MS Gala

On May 10, Multiple Sclerosis advocate and Center Without Walls founder Nancy Davis welcomed guests to the Fairmont Century Plaza for the 31st Annual Race to Erase MS Gala. The event — hosted by Caroline Rhea with performances by Natasha Bedingfield and A Great Big World — raised over $1.5 million to support ground-breaking research with the goal of treating and finding a cure for MS.

Taste for a Cure

Taste for a Cure, UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation’s signature annual fundraising gala, took place on May 10, this year honoring ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith with the 2024 Gil Nickel Humanitarian Award. Ryan Seacrest hosted the evening, with special performances by Seal and Roy Wood Jr.

A Place Called Home’s GirlPower Awards

Youth organization A Place Called Home celebrated young girls of South Central Los Angeles alongside female community change leaders at the 19th Annual GirlPower Awards fundraiser event on May 10, where Natasha Kline, creator of Disney’s upcoming Primos, was among the honorees.

GLAAD Media Awards

GLAAD announced recipients for the second half of its categories at the 35th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York, following the L.A. ceremony in March. Jennifer Hudson received the Excellence in Media Award, introduced by Laverne Cox, and Orville Peck received the Vito Russo Award, presented by Jennifer Lawrence, in a ceremony hosted by Ross Matthews.

Gold Gala

The third annual Gold Gala, which celebrates the achievements of the 2024 A100 List — the 100 most impactful Asian Pacific changemakers in culture and society over the past year — took place in Los Angeles on Saturday, with Cynthia Erivo, Padma Lakshmi, Lucy Liu, Saweetie, The Sympathizer star Hoa Xuande and the creator and cast of Beef among the honorees.

Bridgerton Promenade event

Netflix and Shondaland hosted an exclusive preview of the Bridgerton Promenade at Gansevoort Plaza in New York City on Saturday with stars Jonathan Bailey, Hannah Dodd and Jessica Madsen.

Palm Royale FYC event

The stars of the Apple TV+ series, including Kristen Wiig, Carol Burnett and Leslie Bibb, attended a For Your Consideration event in L.A. on Saturday.

Hartbeat Brunch

Kevin Hart, Bert Kreischer, Chelsea Handler, Jeff Ross, Sam Jay, Janelle James, Jay Pharoah, Craig Robinson, Atsuko Okatsuka, London Hughes, T.I. and Fortune Feimster were among the stars who came out for the annual Hartbeat Brunch, in partnership with Netflix Is a Joke Fest, on Saturday.

Venice Family Clinic’s HEART Gala

Venice Family Clinic’s inaugural HEART (Health + Art) Gala honored U2’s The Edge and Morleigh Steinberg on Saturday. Hosted by comedian Matt Friend, the evening featured a performance by Beck and raised $2.7 million to support the health services and programs that the clinic provides to more than 45,000 people in need in Los Angeles County.

Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s Hot Pink Party 

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation held its annual Hot Pink Party in New York City on Tuesday, hosted by Elizabeth Hurley. The evening raised over $11 million to support BCRF’s legion of 250 scientists pursuing lifesaving breast cancer research.
