Ineos Unveils the New Nautical-Themed Grenadier Helmsman
Fans of throwback 4x4s will have even more options to choose from in 2027.
Ineos has announced that it will release a new series of special-edition Grenadier models inspired by the elements. Up first is a nautical-themed variant called the Helmsman.
At a glance, Helmsman looks like any other example of Ineos’s classic Land Rover Defender-inspired vehicle. But, as tends to be the case with these sorts of things, the details are what separate the boxy 4×4 from the rest of its peers. That’s because the variant, which is available as either a station wagon or Quartermaster truck, comes decked out in the best premium add-ons from past Ineos special editions, along with a few envy-inducing features.

The Helmsman is available with one of three “oceanic” hues: Eldoret Blue, Scottish White, or metallic Whiteout Blue (seen in the accompanying photos), the last of which was previously only available on the brand’s Arcane Works models. The richness of the finish are highlighted by a contrasting Inky Black or Scottish White roof and the Dark Exterior Pack, which includes matte-black grille, side plates, and roof rails. The variant also comes equipped with privacy glass, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and an access ladder for the station wagon or load bay for the Quartermaster. Both body styles come with Helmsman badging and a tow hitch for easily transporting small boats or kayaks.
Inside, the spacious interior has heated leather seats, which are the first in Grenadier history to feature oyster-colored seat inserts, and carpet mats that sit atop of heavy-duty (and easy-to-clean) rubber flooring. The cabin also has been outfitted with brand’s Smooth Pack amenities, which include ambient lighting and auxiliary outlets.

No changes have been made under the hood. That means that the Helmsman variant is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged BMW inline-six that makes 282 hp and 332 ft lbs of torque. The mill is mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox which routes power to all four wheels, of course.
Intrigued? The Helmsman variant will launch as part of Ineos’s 2027 lineup and is expected to start around $95,000, according to Motor1.com. The automaker has yet to say how exclusive the model will be or what special edition will follow it.
