James Harden Decorated a Maserati MC20 to Look Like His New Sneaker

You’ve heard about a numbers-matching car, right? Well, what about one that’s sneaker-matching.
Over the weekend, NBA All-Star James Harden showed off the latest addition to his auto collection, a custom Maserati MC20. Any example of the Italian supercar is bound to turn heads, but this one has also been decorated to look just like the Los Angeles Clippers point guard’s new signature shoe, the Adidas Harden Vol 9 “Metamorphosis.”
Harden shared images and video of the MC20 with his millions of followers on Instagram and X. A series of photos taken outside the Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta depict the vehicle wearing a striking Semi Court Green wrap. The dazzling hue, which looks luminescent in the photos, is eye-catching by itself, but what really stands out are the graphics mimicking the shoe’s sculpted interpretation of the Adidas three stripes that run along its sides.
Harden didn’t just pose for pictures with the car. Another post on his Instagram account shows him driving it around Atlanta, while the Clippers were in town to play the Hawks last week. We never get to see the player push the car to its limits, but he looks quite comfortable behind the wheel (even if squeezing his 6-foot-4-inch frame into the vehicle looks to have been a chore).
It’s easy to see why the MC20 was chosen to highlight the design of Harden’s latest sneakers. The low-slung two-seater is easily one of the best-looking vehicles introduced this decade. Its performance isn’t that bad, either, with its 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged Nettuno V-6 making up to 621 horses, more than enough to rocket the vehicle from zero to 60 mph in under three seconds and to a top speed of 202 mph. We were impressed enough to name it our Car of the Year runner-up in 2023. It starts at $239,000, a price that is unlikely to make Harden, who earns $35 million per season on his current deal, hesitate.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a sneaker company use a supercar to promote one of its star athletes this year. Earlier this month, Jordan welcomed Luka Doncic to his new team, the Los Angeles Lakers, by decorating a Koenigsegg Agera RS in the franchise’s iconic colors.
