LeBron James’ Personalized Mercedes-Maybach S680 Is Headed to Auction

You’ll never be able to hit a pull-up jump shot like LeBron James, but you could soon drive like him.

A “near-identical” version of King James’ personalized Mercedes-Maybach S 680 is set to go up for auction later this year, according to the automaker. The winning bidder will also be helping out a good cause, as proceeds from the sale will benefit LeBron James Family Foundation.

The twin of James’ Maybach S 680 will make its public debut at the Mercedes-Benz Future Classics Auction House during Sunday’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. It and the Philadelphia 76ers star’s personal saloon were designed through the automaker’s Manufaktur Made to Measure program and are based on the range-topping version of the Maybach S-Class.

The exterior of the vehicle is finished in a Manufaktur-exclusive, non-metallic hue called Light Ivory. The color, which also covers the car’s wheels, is broken up only by the vehicle’s chrome trim and its glossy black roof. The exterior’s “V12” badge has also been replaced by James’ personal emblem. Inside the vehicle, the front and extended rear are both covered in Stormy Weather Nappa leather with porcelain contrast stitching. The cabin also features a number of personalized details, including James’ emblem and discrete engravings that reference the basketball player’s hometown of Akron, Ohio, and his family. The twin is referred to as “near-identical,” so it wouldn’t be a surprise if the last details don’t carry over to the car headed to auction.

The Maybach S 680 is powered by a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-12. The handcrafted mill is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and makes 621 hp and 664 ft lbs of torque. The vehicle is the most commanding car that Mercedes currently makes, but can still accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 130 mph.

Mercedes hasn’t announced an estimate for the James-designed Maybach S 680. But, because of the involvement of one of the greatest basketball players of all time, we imagine it will end up costing quite a bit more than the $300,000 starting price of a Manufaktur version of the sophisticated saloon. The gavel price, whatever it ends up being, will help benefit the LeBron James Family Foundation, which supports education, housing, and healthcare for children and families in the future Hall of Famer’s hometown.
