New in Magnificence This April
From a new breakthrough device in at-home laser technology to Aesop’s latest SPF product and the much-awaited Hong Kong launch of Prada Beauty, here’s everything we’re coveting this April.
Into the Pradasphere
Drum roll, please! The wait is over: the beauty industry’s most anticipated launch arrives in Hong Kong this month with the opening of a Prada Beauty store. Since the brand’s licence was acquired by L’Oréal in 2021, the conglomerate has built upon Prada’s existing fragrance lines by developing skincare and make-up products. The new items comprise a cleanser, serum and moisturiser, as well as foundation, eyeshadow palettes and 30 beautiful matte lipstick shades, all encased in irresistibly sleek silver packaging – and yes, the Prada logo is on everything.
Ace Base
One of the best daily sunscreens to launch this year, Aesop’s Protective Facial Lotion SPF 50 won’t have your make-up melting by the afternoon. Its non-greasy formula stays put, providing the perfect base for foundation. It’s enriched with niacinamide to lock in moisture, while delightfully scented essential oils of sage leaf and lavender stem nourish the skin.
Farm to Skin
If you’re not already familiar with Farmacy, allow us to introduce you to this clean skincare brand known for farm-sourced products containing potent actives. New and exclusive to Sephora is the Honey Glow Resurfacing Serum. Made for night-time application, the formula contains a hefty 17 percent BHA/AHA acid blend, along with buckwheat honey, hyaluronic acid and the current much-hyped ingredient, prickly pear.
Wave Maker
GHD made waves last month when brand ambassador Anson Lo attended the Hong Kong launch of its new Chronos straightener. The brand’s most advanced styling tool features motion-responsive technology, adapting heat to the user’s preference for faster results. Whether for straightened or curled hair, it promises hold that lasts up to 24 hours.
Rapid Repair
A bona fide damaged hair saviour, Aveda’s Botanical Repair franchise has released its most exciting addition, the Bond Building Flash Treatment, which promises results in just 10 seconds: just apply the in-shower rinse after shampoo and conditioner for stronger and shinier locks. As with all Aveda products, the formula is vegan and made from 98 percent naturally derived ingredients
All-Over Results
The newest breakthrough in at-home beauty technology comes from LYMA with the launch of its new Laser Pro. Three times bigger and faster than its current laser, it’s perfect for tackling larger body areas such as the arms, knees and neck. Penetrating up to 10cm deep without the pain or downtime of surgery, it’s surely the next best thing.
