Oscars 2025 Guide: Presenters, Nominees, Start Time
The Oscars will return on Sunday, promising to dazzle in all the right ways. Will Anora take it all, or could The Brutalist sweep to the lead? What’s the damage of that Emilia Pérez scandal, will Kieran Culkin continue his sweep, could Demi Moore bring some love for The Substance and wait, what about Conclave, I’m Still Here and Nickel Boys? Or A Complete Unknown, Dune: Part Two and Wicked?

What time does the show start?
The show will start at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET on March 2. This is the second year that ceremony will begin an hour earlier, meant to ease the late bedtimes for east coasters. It’s a school night, after all! The show will air live coast-to-coast from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.
The red carpet will begin half an hour before, at 3:30 p.m. PT. Julianne Hough and Jesse Palmer will host.
Who is the host?
Conan O’Brien will host for the first time. Showrunner and executive producer Raj Kapoor promised on Wednesday that “he has so much material that even the gems aren’t going to make it to air,” also saying, “We are definitely gifted with how much time Conan has invested in this show.”
Nick Offerman will serve as show announcer, an idea that Kapoor told THR was O’Brien’s. Presenters include Joe Alwyn, Halle Berry, Sterling K. Brown, Penélope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Ana de Armas, Lily-Rose Depp, Robert Downey Jr., Elle Fanning, Whoopi Goldberg, Selena Gomez, Goldie Hawn, Scarlett Johansson, John Lithgow, Cillian Murphy, Connie Nielsen, Amy Poehler, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, June Squibb, Ben Stiller, Emma Stone, Oprah Winfrey, Bowen Yang, Dave Bautista, Gal Gadot, Andrew Garfield, Margaret Qualley, Alba Rohrwacher, Rachel Zegler, Harrison Ford, Zoe Saldaña and Samuel L. Jackson.
Who’s performing?
The Oscars announced in January it would “move away” from live performances of the nominated original songs, instead focusing on the backstories of each songwriter. But the show will still feature music: Doja Cat, Lisa of Blackpink, Queen Latifah and Raye are all set to take part in “showstopping performances, along with a special appearance by the Los Angeles Master Chorale. Oscar-nominated stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo will also take the stage to perform something from Wicked. Which number? We’ll have to tune in to find out.
Will the show do anything about the fires?
The Eaton and Palisades fires wreaked havoc on the Hollywood community in January, and many awards shows have since paid tribute to the victims and damage. The Oscars will be no exception, and Academy CEO Bill Kramer told The Hollywood Reporter‘s Awards Chatter podcast that “the part of the show that will deal with the recent fires in the Los Angeles area is really about community, a love of home and a love of L.A. as a place for movie making and creative visionaries.”
O’Brien has also weighed in on how the devastation changed his duties as host. “It’s not the easiest assignment I’ve ever had but I’m embracing it,” he told THR. “And it’s not about me, obviously. This is a moment for all of us to step back and say, ‘Be humble.’ Just be humble and say, ‘This is a massive moment. This is a terrible thing that’s happened in Los Angeles.’”
