Pamela Anderson Says She Never Wed Jon Peters After $20M Marriage Offer
Pamela Anderson is setting the record straight on her marriage record. Specifically, the newly minted Golden Globe-nominated star of Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl would like the world to know that she never actually tied the knot with veteran Hollywood producer Jon Peters.
During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter’s Scott Feinberg on his Awards Chatter podcast, the executive editor of awards asked Anderson to reveal “the biggest misconception about you?” The 57-year-old actress wasted no time in coming up with an answer. “That I’ve been married six times instead of four,” she explained. “I never was married to Jon Peters. Do you want to know the Jon Peters story?”
Of course Feinberg welcomed the anecdote, and Anderson dove right in.
“I had just come home from France and my son called me. He goes, ‘You’re not going to believe it. Jon Peters called me. He offered me $20 million if I could get you to marry him.’ And he was laughing hysterically. Obviously, we don’t take Jon seriously. Jon is a movie maker. He is a wonderful person. He’s very funny,” Anderson said, after which Feinberg noted that Anderson knew the producer of A Star Is Born since her early days in Los Angeles, dating back to the 1980s when she moved from Canada. They met through Hugh Hefner at the Playboy mansion.
“I knew him at the very beginning. And he’s kind of popped up here and there. So we said, ‘Well, let’s just have lunch with him.’ And this is so funny. We had lunch and then he had a bunch of flowers there and he had everybody, all the family was there — I’ve known his daughters — and it was just a funny moment. But I never married Jon. It was never a marriage, but we were just laughing about that. That’s all that happened. But still people think that I was married to him. So it’s kind of on my list on Wikipedia,” Anderson explained.
At the time, outlets including THR reported that Anderson and Peters tied the knot during a private ceremony in Malibu on Jan. 20, 2020. A wedding reception followed at Shutters in Santa Monica. “Pamela has never seen her full potential as an artist. She has yet to shine in a real way. There is much more to her than meets the eye, or I wouldn’t love her so much,” Peters told THR at the time. “There are beautiful girls everywhere. I could have my pick, but — for 35 years — I’ve only wanted Pamela. She makes me wild — in a good way. She inspires me. I protect her and treat her the way she deserves to be treated.”
Twelve days after reportedly tying the knot, THR confirmed that the pair parted ways. A source close to the actress claimed that the couple hadn’t yet filed the legal paperwork for a marriage certificate, something Anderson also confirmed. “I have been moved by the warm reception to Jon and my union,” Anderson said in a statement. “We would be very grateful for your support as we take some time apart to reevaluate what we want from life and from one another. Life is a journey and love is a process. With that universal truth in mind, we have mutually decided to put off the formalization of our marriage certificate and put our faith in the process. Thank you for respecting our privacy.”
If they had filed, it would have been the fifth marriage for both. Anderson previously wed rocker Tommy Lee, with whom she has two adult sons; Kid Rock; and Rick Salomon on two separate occasions. Peters previously married Henrietta Zampitella, Lesley Ann Warren, producer Christine Forsyth-Peters and Mindy Williamson. He also had a high-profile courtship with Barbra Streisand, though they never married.
Following Hefner’s death in 2017, Peters recalled meeting Anderson at the famed Playboy estate. “I walked in and saw this little angel sitting at the bar. It was Pammy. She was like 19. I knew she would be a big star. We ended up living together. Of course, Hefner loved her and saw her beauty,” he remembered. “Pamela was a girl who with no makeup was gorgeous. She was very smart and very talented. I tried to talk her out of doing Playboy. I said, ‘Don’t do Playboy. Focus on a serious career.’ She said, ‘You’re nuts.’ She wanted to do Playboy, and she went on to do 13 covers.”
Strangely enough, Anderson has found her way to a serious career by way of Coppola’s The Last Showgirl, which has generated awards buzz for the Baywatch vet. In it, she stars opposite Jamie Lee Curtis, Kiernan Shipka, Brenda Song, Billie Lourd, Jason Schwartzmann and Dave Bautista by playing a seasoned showgirl who must figure out a future when her show abruptly closes after a 30-year run.
Back to the marriage talk. Anderson had one more thing she was happy to clear up. “Rick Salomon is a friend of mine. I married him when he was using heavily and drinking and he got sober and then I remarried him when he was sober to give him another chance. It still didn’t work out. But the first one was annulled,” she confirmed.
“So, technically only four then?” Feinberg asked.
“It’s four men that I was married to, and like I said, it was a very short time. It’s not something I can say [I’m proud of]. It’s hard to correct someone when say I was only married four times instead of six. It’s just a little less bad. But I wanted to clarify,” she stated.
So, could there be a fifth, Feinberg asked?
“I don’t know,” Anderson said. That could be a true Hollywood ending.
