For many people, switching phone carriers isn’t a question of interest — it’s a question of follow-through. The research gets done, the options get compared and then it stalls out somewhere between timing, cost and what to do with the phone already in hand.

That’s the space T-Mobile is addressing with its current offer, which brings together its 15-minute online switching process and its “Keep & Switch” program. The latter will give you up to $800 per line (max of 4 per account) to help pay off an eligible device when you switch to T-Mobile.

Both offers have existed on their own, but together they tighten up the process in a way that feels more workable. You can start the switch online in 15 minutes, rather than carving out time for a store visit, and you don’t have to part with your current phone to do it. Instead, you keep using your device while getting help covering whatever balance is left on it.

That combination changes the equation slightly. The decision becomes less about replacing everything at once and more about making a smaller shift — keeping your phone, moving your service and handling the financial piece alongside it. For anyone still paying down a device, that detail can make a difference; it removes the need to either pay it off up front or fold the cost into a new purchase.

There are still some parameters. The offer applies to eligible devices, and the reimbursement is issued via a virtual prepaid card. It’s available for up to four lines, which means it can extend across multiple devices on the same account.

For anyone who has already spent time looking into switching mobile carriers — whether that’s comparing plans, checking coverage or seeing if their phone will work on another network — this kind of setup meets that moment more directly. It removes a few of the steps that tend to slow things down, without changing the core decision itself.
