Sunreef Just Unveiled the High-Performance Brabus Ultima 55 Catamaran
Brabus may be unveiling its first high-performance yachts in Monaco this year, but first it decided to dabble with a sleek catamaran.
The German tuner, known for turning luxe cars from Lamborghini to Bentley into absurd, beastly powerhouses, has teamed up with the folks at Sunreef on a new 55-foot cat. The stunner builds upon the boat builder’s existing Ultima 55 but adds a dose of Brabus’s propensity for dialing performance and looks up to 11.
Marking the first collaboration from the two companies, the Brabus Ultima 55 is a bit of a two-for-one experience on the water: It offers up the space and stability of a multihull combined with the agility of a monohull yacht. The new cat does all this without sacrificing on looks, with plenty of carbon-fiber details to be found over its svelte profile from the front and rear wings to trims found both port and starboard. That material can be paired either with the Graphite Black or Phantom Grey finish, as well as custom exterior upholstery in Brabus Graphite, Red, or Pearl.
The aft deck is home to lateral folding platforms, which increase the beam from 18.4 feet to 24.9 feet for more space in the stern. You’ll also find large sunpads onboard, which can be folded up if needed, alongside a retractable carbon-fiber dining table, a grill, a wet bar and another larger sunpad at the bow.
The new cat gives you direct access to the sea.
Head inside, meanwhile, and you can experience one of two layouts for guests. An owner’s suite, a VIP stateroom, and a crew cabin come standard, for 4 guests, or you can opt for three guest cabins and one crew accommodation, leaving room for you and five friends onboard. Elsewhere, the salon is home to a fully equipped galley, a 42-inch T.V. integrated right into the countertop that can be raised and lowered as you please, and a Bowers & Wilkins sound system.
You’ll also see some details that pay homage to Brabus’s supercars sprinkled throughout the interiors. That includes touches of the brand’s Moonstone Masterpiece leather on sofas and seats, paired with its Triangle stitching pattern. There’s plenty of carbon fiber to be found, too, like in the helm and throughout the cabins.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Brabus creation without the proper juice. The new model is powered by twin six-cylinder engines that each churn out 725 hp. Thanks to that combined output, the sleek cat can dart to over 40 knots on the high seas. Plus, the Brabus Ultima 55 is equipped with an advanced hydrofoiling system, raising the hull high in the water to improve agility, stability, and comfort while onboard—and give you the feeling of flying above the water.
“We asked ourselves what a modern high-performance luxury catamaran should look and feel like,” Constantin Buschmann, Brabus’s CEO and owner, said in a press statement. “The Brabus Ultima 55 is our answer: a design with a clear identity of its own, real performance, uncompromising quality—and what we call the One Second Wow.”
As we mentioned, the tuner also has its new yachts on the horizon, which will splash down on the scene at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show. For those vessels, though, Brabus teamed up with AB Yachts to bring even more of that One Second Wow—the notion that a product should make its purpose clear from the second you lay eyes on it—to the high seas.
