Tankoa Just Launched a Fully Custom 148-Foot Superyacht
Tankoa Yachts capped off August with a mighty splash.
The Italian yard launched a fully custom superyacht on the final day of the month, with the 148-footer hitting the seas during a special ceremony in Genoa.
The new TX450 is yet another example of Tankoa’s boutique approach to yacht-building. The one-off was built for a highly experienced yachtsman from the Middle East, who had a very clear brief: He wanted a sub-500 GT yacht which offered the volume, space, and living areas typically found on a much larger vessel.
“From the very beginning, this has been a truly collaborative journey with the owner, resulting in a yacht that is entirely bespoke and reflects a shared vision brought to life through dedication, expertise, and innovation,” Tankoa Yachts CEO Vincenzo Poerio said in a statement.

The TX450 is the product of a true collaborative effort, with Cassetta Yacht Designers spearheading the exterior and interiors, Names executing the naval architecture, and inNave working with the in-house Tankoa team on engineering. It takes design cues from the T450 model that Tankoa unveiled in 2020—both vessels were penned by Cassetta—but has a highly distinctive configuration that sets it apart from its predecessor. Most notably, the TX450 has a wider beam and one more deck than the T450.
The layout was designed around the way the owner intends to use the yacht. Living areas span the entire upper deck, with four guest cabins and the owner’s suite on the main deck (accommodating up to 10 guests in total) alongside a dedicated gym and spa area. Additional guest accommodation, including a convertible cabin, sits on the lower deck.

As for grunt, the TX450 is equipped with a hybrid propulsion system that combines conventional diesel engines with electric motors and batteries. That setup allows it to cruise quietly and sans emissions for a good few hours in full-electric mode and stay fully powered overnight at anchor using batteries alone. The yacht has a top speed of 15 knots (at half load) and a cruising speed of 14 knots, according to Tankoa.
The TX450 is now entering the final phase of construction, with sea trials and technical testing currently underway. “We are immensely proud to see her enter this exciting new chapter,” adds Poerio. Delivery is expected later this year.
