Taylor Swift Defends Lady Gaga Amid False Pregnancy Rumors

Taylor Swift is coming to the defense of Lady Gaga after false rumors began spreading over the weekend that she was pregnant.

Gaga was photographed by paparazzi at her sister’s wedding in a small town in Maine, where people began speculating she was expecting.

On Monday, the “Bad Romance” singer took to TikTok to shut down the rumors. She posted a 10-second video with the “I am the aesthetic” audio, which says, “I don’t have to find an aesthetic; I am the aesthetic. I mean, I’m sure there’s somebody out here right now who is going into Pinterest trying to type up all these adjectives to describe me.”

Over the clip, Gaga wrote, “not pregnant – just down bad cryin at the gym,” referencing Swift’s song “Down Bad” from The Tortured Poets Department.

According to Instagram account @commentsbycelebs, Swift addressed the rumors, noting, “Can we all agree that its invasive & irresponsible to comment on a woman’s body. Gaga doesn’t owe anyone an explanation & neither does any woman.”

The A Star Is Born actress also used the increased publicity to encourage people to register to vote at headcount.org or use the same website to “easily” check if they’re registered to vote.

However, Gaga’s call to action seems to have been overshadowed by her use of Swift’s lyrics, as fans in the 8,000+ comments (as of press time) could only focus on the possibility of a Gaga and Swift collab.

While Swift was coming to Gaga’s defense, she also may have been making a statement to TikTok users who have been speculating that she is pregnant as well. However, a user noted she had already shut down the rumors about her at one of her Madrid shows, while singing “But Daddy I Love Him.”

In the song, Swift says, “Now I’m running with my dress unbuttoned / Screaming ‘But Daddy I love him!’ / I’m having his baby / No, I’m not, but you should see your faces.” According to the TikToker, Swift broke character for a moment while performing, to say, “No, I’m not,” seemingly referencing the rumors.

Gaga is currently working on her seventh studio album, with her starring role in Joker: Folie à Deux also set to hit the big screen in October, while Swift is currently on the second international leg of her Eras Tour.
