TechArt’s TSport R is a Porsche 911 Carrera T with a Bog-Wood Shifter
It really is the details that put something over the top.
TechArt has just unveiled the TSport R, its take on the current-generation Porsche 911 Carrera T. The German tuner’s latest creation is faster and lighter than the car it’s based on, but its most intriguing feature, at least to us, is a gear shifter made of bog wood.
The Carrera T was designed for purists. Introduced in 2017, as part of the 991.2 generation, the variant is inspired by the 911 T that was sold between 1968 and 1973 and is meant to be a more accessible alternative to the GT3. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the range-topping performance model, but it does feature a lightweight build and comes with a manual transmission standard (as of the 992.2 generation). It’s easy to see why TechArt, which specializes in making Porsches even more enthusiast-friendly, wanted to see what it could do with the car.

The changes TechArt has made to the Carrera T are meant to make the gap between it and the GT3 that much smaller. The build features the same 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six, but it has been tuned so that it now outputs 505 hp and 390 ft lbs of torque. That’s significantly more than Carrera T, which makes 388 hp and 331 ft lbs of torque, and even better, the GT3, which makes 502 hp and 331 ft lbs of torque. Thanks to the boost, the TSport R can sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, which is nearly a second faster than the base model.
In addition to the engine tune, the car’s aerodynamic package has also been reworked. The TSport R wears a new front splitter, roof spoiler, rear diffuser, and ducktail spoiler, all of which are made from carbon-fiber to keep weight down. Our favorite change, though, can be found inside the car. TechArt offers four different equipment packages—Ansteig, Höhenmeter, Kurvenrausch, and Berggipfel—the latter three of which come with a gear shifter that was crafted from “thousands-of-years-old” bog oak. Needless to say, each of these shifters is one-of-a-kind.

Intrigued? TechArt is taking request for the TSport R now through its website. The shop has yet to say how much the build will cost, but something far north of the Carrera T’s $135,995 starting price seems likely.
