The Value of a Used Porsche 911 Has Risen by 74% Since 2019
The Porsche 911 isn’t just one of the greatest sports cars of all time. Increasingly, it’s looking like just as good an investment.
If you’re a collector, or just a fan of the 911, you’re undoubtedly aware of the steep prices air-cooled examples can command on the secondary market. But even newer models are seeing their prices soar, according to Road & Track. A new study shows that a three-year-old 911 currently sells for nearly $100,000 more than it did in 2019.
The data comes from a study of used vehicle prices published by iSeeCars on Tuesday. The online automobile search engine found that the price of a three-year-old 911 has risen from $132,369 to $230,273, or $97,904 over the last seven years. That figure represents an increase of 74 percent during that time, which was the second-highest jump among the vehicles included in the study.
The popularity of high-spec 911s, like the Turbo S, may have contributed to the jump

There are several factors contributing to the big swing. The team at iSeeCars found that the average price of all used cars, regardless of make or model, has risen by 38.2 percent since 2019. Additionally, Road & Track points out that the starting price of a 911 has also risen quite dramatically during the years that were analyzed. In 2019, a three-year-old 911, which would have belonged to the nameplate’s 991 generation, would have started at just under $85,000. Today’s three-year-old 911 belongs to the 992.1 generation and starts at nearly $50,000 more at just under $135,000.
But the increase in starting price only accounts for around half of the jump. The average price of a three-year-old 911 today also happens to be about $100,000 more than the vehicle’s current starting price. This suggests that the popularity of higher-spec models, like the GT3 (which starts at $235,800) and Turbo S ($270,000), along with special editions like the Spirit 70 ($254,300), may also have contributed to the increase.
Of course, the 911 isn’t the only coveted vehicle that’s seen its used price jump over the last seven years. The car that’s seen its used value jump the most over that time is one of the sports car’s stablemates, the Cayenne SUV, which has jumped from $50,301 to $88,387, which is an increase of 75.7 percent. Other Robb Report-approved vehicles that cracked the study’s top 10 include the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, which rose from $99,967 to $172,781 (which is a 72.8 percent increase), and the BMW M3, which rose from $49,356 to $80,420 (62.9 percent).
