If you’re a bourbon fan, you’re certainly familiar with Knob Creek, one of the core members of the Jim Beam Small Batch Collection and a very good whiskey in its own right. You now have a chance to try something from the brand that has never been available before, because for the first time a U.K.-exclusive single-barrel pick is being sold via the Whisky Exchange, and shipping is available to most U.S. consumers.

The Whisky Exchange is a prominent e-commerce website that was founded in 1999 by Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh, who sold the business to French drinks company Pernod Ricard in 2021. You can find a great deal of rare and exclusive scotch whiskies available to purchase there (and not just from Pernod brands), but also some standout American whiskeys as well—which brings us to this new Knob Creek release. The core Knob Creek lineup consists of 9-year-old bourbon bottled at 100 proof, but over the years there have been several other age statements added to the lineup, culminating in last year’s excellent new 21-year-old expression, as well as some high-proof single-barrel releases.

This new single-barrel pick for the Whisky Exchange is a first for the U.K. market. It was distilled in 2015, aged for a full decade, and bottled at cask strength of 62.6 percent ABV. The Whisky Exchange buying director Dawn Davies visited the James B. Beam Distilling Co. in 2025 to pick a barrel, eventually settling on this one located in rack 18 on the fourth floor of warehouse Z, for those of you who like to dive into the minutiae. We were not able to try a sample of the whiskey, but the official tasting notes describe aromas of brown sugar and Dutch caramel waffles, followed by nutmeg and cinnamon spice on the palate, ending with singed caramel, buttery toffee, and garibaldi biscuits on the finish.

According to a press release, the Whisky Exchange has seen an increase in consumers’ interest in limited-edition American whiskeys. Overall sales in the category were up by 16 percent, led by bottles like Maker’s Mark’s Star Hill Farm wheat whiskey and Eagle Rare 12-Year-Old from Buffalo Trace. If you’d like to try the new Knob Creek 2015 10-Year-Old for yourself, you can order it directly from the Whisky Exchange (SRP £94.95 or about $131). Check the website’s restrictions before you order, however, as there are currently 20 states to which bottles cannot be shipped.
