Swimming pools may have become somewhat commonplace on luxury superyachts, but designers are still finding ways to elevate the splashy feature.

Take, for instance, Design Storz’s newest concept. Christened Skia, the 358-footer is fitted with not one but three striking glass pools that cascade spectacularly across the aft decks. The vessel offers more than striking spots to swim, of course.

Skia showcases a sleek exterior that reflects the DNA of the Austrian studio. Achim Storz started off designing Formula 1 race cars for Lotus and McLaren, before opening his eponymous firm in 1982. With more than four decades of experience in the automotive industry under his belt, the designer is adept at creating vehicles that are at once stylish and aerodynamic. Skia is a prime example.

The streamlined exterior was inspired by automotive design.

“The long character lines and splines, emerged from our first sketches, are key as they balance both light and shadow to create a state-of-the-art sculpture on water,” Storz said in a statement.

Interestingly, the graphic element on the hull and superstructure was inspired by sportswear and not cars. Storz says the geometric design combined with the two-tone paint job gives Skia “a strong stance and dynamic profile.”

In terms of onboard amenities, Skia features a touch-and-go helipad on the foredeck, a generous aft beach club with fold-out terraces, and a retractable swim platform at the stern. Other highlights include a large gym and a lavish spa with a Jacuzzi, sauna, and direct access to the water.

As for the interior, the open-plan layout is free of any bulkheads that might interrupt flow. The living quarters showcase high ceilings, expansive windows, contemporary decor, and sustainable materials. Design Storz has not yet shared interior renders, though. The vessel can sleep up to 14 guests and 30 crew, too.
