That color. It’s called Uranus Blue and is loosely based on a Lamborghini paint chip, with extra metallic flake to make it just a little different. It looks like a cross between the waters of the Caribbean and a Miami Dolphins jersey. This one-of-one hue is what sets Seattle entrepreneur and serial supercar collector Roy Cats’ 2023 Hennessey Venom F5 Coupe apart from the 23 other examples of the Venom F5 Coupe built by Texas-based Hennessey Special Vehicles.

“Pretty much all of my cars are blue. But this one is the most stunning. Pictures just don’t do it justice. When the sun hits it, it just glows,” Cats tells Robb Report. But after a year of ownership and 1,514 miles added to the car’s digital odometer, he’s decided to sell, entrusting it to online-auction house SBX Cars to find a buyer. Estimates of what the car will fetch range from $2.2 million to $2.5 million.

This 2023 Hennessey Venom F5 Coupe, soon available through online-auction house SBX Cars, carries a high-end estimate of $2.5 million.

Why is he selling? Two words: no trunk. The founder of the state of Washington’s biggest commercial fire alarm companies explains that the way he likes to use his supercars is to head off for a weekend to stay at some cool hotel or resort. That’s how he’s logged over 55,000 miles in his Lamborghini Murciélago LP670, over 50,000 miles in both of his Lamborghini Diablos, 40,000 miles in his McLaren 675, and over 17,000 miles in his McLaren Senna.

“I didn’t think it important when I ordered the car, but now if I take someone with me, there’s no space for even an overnight bag. I offered to put down a deposit on the upcoming Venom F5-M manual provided they could custom build a space for luggage. But they said it just wasn’t possible. And I didn’t want a roof rack,” says Cats.

What he says he’ll miss most, however, is the F5’s gut-wrenching performance. Powered by Hennessey’s own 6.6-liter twin-turbo “Fury” V-8 packing 1,817 hp and 1,193 ft lbs of torque, it can catapult from standstill to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds, run zero to 124 mph in 4.7 seconds, and rush from zero to 250 mph in 15.5 seconds. As for its top speed, that’s claimed to be more than 300 mph.

“You can’t describe how quick this thing is,” says Cats. “It’s astonishing, yet controllable and refined in the way it delivers its power. Put it in F5 mode, that unlocks the full power, and it’s otherworldly.”

In addition to that head-spinning body color, Cats specified his car with 10-spoke forged alloy wheels finished in a custom matte-metallic bronze. Inside, the vehicle features black leather with teal contrast stitching and highlights. One major change Cats made, after he took delivery, was to the F5’s thinly upholstered racing bucket seats made of carbon fiber. After just a few weeks, he shipped his car back to Texas and Hennessey returned the seats to the U.K. to have them reupholstered with more cushy foam padding.

“It took months to get them, but they’re literally the best, most comfortable seats of any of my cars,” says Cats. “They told me the original design was to save weight, but I’d take comfort over a few pounds any day.”

This  Venom F5 is No. 23 of the 24 examples of the coupe that Hennessey has built since production started in 2020. In addition to these, 30 Venom F5 Roadsters have either been delivered or are in production, along with 24 of the track-focused Venom F5 Revolution variants. High-profile F5 owners include basketball legend Michael Jordon, motorsport titan Rick Hendrick, Shark Tank TV star Robert Hejavec, and entrepreneur and racing-club owner Rafa Martinez, who owns both a coupe and convertible version of the hypercar.

“I drive a lot of very fast cars on a regular basis. But the F5 is the only one that never gets old,” says John Hennessey, founder of his namesake Hennessey Special Vehicles. “I never get used to the power and performance you get from 1,800 hp and such a lightweight chassis. It still never fails to amaze me.”

Ro Choy, CEO of SBX Cars, feels that the rarity of this Hennessey Venom F5 Coupe should deliver a strong price, especially as it was originally sold for $2.35 million. “For a collector, owning such a performance machine isn’t just about speed,” says Choy. “It’s about being part of an elite group of hypercar owners with access to a vehicle that redefines what’s possible in automotive engineering.”
