Thor’s New Rise+ Camper Van Is for Adventurers Who Need More Room
Sometimes the camper van, as nicely appointed as it may be, just does not have enough room
That’s why Thor Motor Coach is launching a new model called the Rize+ that sits between a camper van (a Class B RV) and a motorhome (Class C). The vehicle aims to offer the flexibility of the former with the space of the latter.
The Rize+, which New Atlas calls a “Class B+” RV, measures 19.7 feet bumper-to-bumper, making it more than a foot-and-a-half longer than the Rize camper van. The bigger difference between the two is that the shell sitting atop the former’s Ford E-Series chassis is four inches wider and boxier, giving it more interior space to work with. Despite this, it remains easy to park and maneuver—at least by camper standards—something that can’t be said about most motorhomes. The vehicle is also quite capable, with its 7.3-liter V-8 making 325 hp and 450 ft lbs of torque, and a hitch weight rating of 8,000 pounds.

Camper designers have shown themselves quite talented at maximizing space, but the dimensions of the 9.7-foot-tall Rize+’s two-person cabin require fewer sacrifices to be made. Located behind the front two seats is a surprisingly spacious bathroom equipped with a shower and toilet, a compact kitchenette with a two-burner range, fridge, and sink, and a versatile rear entertainment area. This part of the cabin includes a removable table and two long foldaway benches. At night, the seating can be turned into two separate single beds or combined into a double mattress. There’s also plenty of storage, with a cabinet located next to the kitchenette and additional room located beneath the benches and in the cabover section above the front seats.
The mini-motorhome also comes with plenty of features sure to make your next road trip more comfortable. These include a 13,500-BTU air-conditioner, a 3,400-BTU furnace, a water heater, and a 100-Ah battery-based electrical system with a 100-watt solar panel and backup generator to keep everything running, even in harsh weather conditions.

Already dreaming of hitting the road in the Rize+? Thor is taking orders for its latest camper now through its website. Pricing for the model starts at $130,340, which is actually close to $16,000 less expensive than the Rize camper van.
