An Ultra-Rare Modified Porsche 911 Speedster Is up for Grabs
Porsche 911 Speedsters have always been for the purists, with their relative rarity, open tops, and minimalist interiors, the 911 that one might buy if they were eternally single and committed to the church of driving. As such, they are also sacrosanct among Porsche fans, and even the most minor modifications can attract side eye, nevermind wholesale cosmetic redesigns, which is why a 1994 Porsche 911 Speedster up for auction now is sure to get some attention.
This 1994 Porsche 911 Speedster Strosek is one of just 936 Speedsters built for the model year. It was modified by Strosek Design, a leading Porsche tuner, who made the bodywork wider, lowered the suspension, and, most jarringly, changed the front fascia. Gone is the familiar face of the 964 911; instead, there are tiny headlights accompanying a more streamlined, almost aerodynamically retro look.

Bring A Trailer
The 911 Speedster Strosek is powered by a 3.6-liter flat-six, which makes 247 horsepower, mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The Oz wheels are 17 inches wide, and there is a black soft top for when the weather hits. The tires are Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, and were installed last month, which was nice of the sellers. As such, the Speedster is ready for the track.
The seller notes in the comments that this 911 Speedster Strosek is “NOT” the one owned by Barry Bonds, baseball home run king, a car which was restyled in 2022 and went for $440,000 on Bring a Trailer in 2024. That Bonds bought one does show how fashionable the Strosek Speedsters were back in 1994, which was a weird time.
The Porsche 911 Speedster Strosek up for auction now previously went for $207,500 on Bring a Trailer in 2021, which is about in the middle range of what the 964 911s go for these days, though that is a pretty wide range. It’ll likely finish around the 2021 number, with the bid up to $97,000 as of this writing and four days left in the auction. Hopefully, whoever buys it can add some miles to the odometer.
