Angelina Jolie’s Trend Effort Touches Down in KL with Chloé x Atelier Jolie Preview

Fashion has been abuzz with talk of screen veteran Angelina Jolie’s official debut as a fashion entreprenur under her namesake label. Now, Malaysians will get to catch a glimpse of it through Chloe’s latest collaboration with Atelier Jolie.

Purveyor of casual, irreverent cool, and chic since making her acting debut in 1993, Jolie has curated an evolutionary style template that remains incredibly identifiable to her namesake across the years, grounded by a solitary constant: simplicity.

Whether it be peak 90s anarchy with frameless sunnies paired alongside tank tops and leather pants, or demure motherhood in opulent layers of cashmere, the top-billing actress understands that the true essence of sartorial good taste boils down to a great set of closet staples and of course, confidence.

Chloe x Atelier Jolie officially lands on Malaysian shores

Atelier Jolie reflects those tenants, debuting back in 2023 to much critical acclaim among industry peers who have been waiting on collectively holding bated breath for a glimpse into fashion on Angelina Jolie‘s terms.

Described as a collective hub for global creatives to come together in the name of collaboration, the brand’s first physical outpost along New York City’s famed 57 Great Jones Street is part cultural hive, part design workshop, and part gallery. Reflecting Jolie’s ambitions of uniting each facet into a single entity, the brand has already made steady headway through partnerships with global artisans including London milliner Justin Smith and lace maker Pierre Fouch from South Africa, to name a few.

But it is Atelier Jolie’s collaboration with the French maison of Bohemian chic, Chloé, that has truly commanded the most amount of chatter. Formally launched in October last year, the capsule collection has since made its Malaysian preview recently at an intimate private viewing attended by members of press and clients of the brand.

Co-designed by Jolie, the capsule drop has been described as a celebration of genuine women-to-women connections. This commitment is best expressed through an insistence on practical comfort that doesn’t shy away from sultry allure, where slinky things of occasionwear, such as a micro silk sable negligee-adjacent number, are introduced alongside elevated outerwear by way of wonders like a deceptively understated velvet opera cape.

Of course, precise tailoring undercuts this relaxed tone with some careful measures of structure, seen in a three-piece wool gabardine black suit and Chloe’s perennial classic lavallière shirt made of hammered silk-satin. The premise is easily evident; high opulence as seen through the lens of cool, effortless femininity, boasting a neutral palette to suit most skintones and a diverse sizing selection.

Sustainability also occupies a key role throughout, with the Chloé x Atelier Jolie capsule holding the distinction of being made from at least 80% lower-impact materials. This is achieved through the incorporation of deadstock and natural fabrics throughout, whether it be organic crepe de chine or certified wool.

Driving her message of holistic collaboration with underrepresented groups home, Jolie’s range taps into strategic manufacturing partnerships with Akanjo, a World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) guaranteed social enterprise based in Madagascar committed to training and promoting craftsmanship, as well as La Fabrique Nomade, a Paris-based programme promoting professional inclusion for refugee and migrant artisans in France.
