Anya Hindmarch’s Chubby Hearts Arrive in Hong Kong for Valentine’s Day

Love is in the air! Chubby Hearts is coming to Hong Kong for its first appearance in Asia after its success in London. The giant floating hearts will first appear in the sky on Valentine’s Day and will last until February 24.

Chubby Hearts Hong Kong was designed by Anya Hindmarch, curated and presented by the Hong Kong Design Centre. For 11 days, Hong Kong’s skies will be decorated with oversized, heart-shaped balloons floating alongside the skyscrapers that populate the city’s skyline.

The centre-piece of Chubby Hearts can be found at the Statue Square Gardens, featuring the largest piece in the collection at a diameter of approximately 12 metres. This piece is four times larger than the balloons shown in London. After the installation in Hong Kong, it will join the Chubby Hearts permanent collection and be flown to other locations in the future.

Throughout the project, smaller floating hearts approximately 3 metres in diameter will pop up around landmarks and scenic spots in the city. On one day, you could spot a Chubby Heart in Mong Kok’s Flower Market, another day in the Lam Tsuen Wishing Square in Tai Po, or the Belcher Bay Promenade. The location and time for each pop-up heart will be announced every morning on HKDC’s website.

Chubby Hearts will be running from Valentine’s Day to February 24, which is when the Lantern Festival is celebrated, also known as Chinese Valentine’s Day. Be sure to look up during this time and spot the floating red hearts celebrating love this February.
