Following the same, Edebiri further showcased her writing as well as acting talents with the scripted digital series, Ayo and Rachel Are Single (2020). For this series, she collaborated with Rachel Sennott whom she met as a fellow student during her time at New York university.

The actress has also admitted that it was Sennott who introduced her to New York’s stand-up scene and coerced her to perform. Edebiri’s recurring role on the popular ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary as Ayesha Teagues, the sister of protagonist Janine Teagues (played by Quinta Brunson), also earned her new fans.

Before making it big in the entertainment business, the actress worked in several New York City restaurants to support herself. Edebiri revealed in an interview that she previously worked as waitstaff and also did dishwashing duties during her time working in the hospitality industry.
