Capella Hotels and Resorts has announced the opening of Capella Taipei in the capital city of Taiwan.
In a statement issued on 30 January, the hotel brand said that its new property is “poised to become an urban sanctuary in the heart of Taipei’s vibrant Dunhua North Road.”
The 86-key luxurious retreat promises to offer a unique blend of city energy and serene elegance.
“We’re thrilled to unveil a new chapter of bespoke luxury in Taipei, a city that harmoniously blends cultural vibrancy with a burgeoning luxury market,” said Cristiano Rinaldi, president of Capella Hotel Group, in a statement.
“Capella Taipei is not just a hotel; it’s an invitation to immerse in a culture rich in heritage and to create memories that resonate beyond a stay,” added Rinaldi.
Capella Hotels and Resorts group consists of properties located in Singapore, Sydney, Ubud, Bangkok, Hanoi, Shanghai, and Hainan. It was named the Best Hotel Brand by Travel + Leisure in its ‘World’s Best Awards’ in 2023.

Who is behind the design of Capella Taipei?
Capella Taipei was designed by Hong Kong’s André Fu Studio, founded by interior architect André Fu, in consultation with Japan’s Mori Building Group.
The property looks like an urban retreat, surrounded by lush greenery. According to the statement by the hotel, its concept of a ‘modern mansion’ was born out of André’s personal reflection of Taipei.
Fu said in the statement that the hotel is a re-telling of his discovery of Taipei, its local neighbourhoods and the lush tree-lined DunHua North Road
“I was absorbed with the poetic environment. It captures the feeling of an escape nestled within European boulevards, a soulful atmosphere that evokes an antithesis to the urbanity one might typically perceive Taipei,” Fu said.
What does Capella Taipei offer as culinary delights?
The main restaurant of Capella Taipei is called the Grill. According to the hotel, the restaurant offers sustainably sourced, farm-to-table produce with a French-inspired menu. It also uses “innovative grilling, ageing, and smoking techniques.”
Other dining concepts include Cantonese cuisine with Taiwanese influences as well as a Japanese omakase restaurant. Diners will also find delicious artisanal bread and in-house roasted coffee at the hotel’s Patisserie.
“Additionally, a two-storey destination offers a vibrant mixology-focused ground floor, among other exciting bar-centric concepts to be announced soon,” the hotel added in its statement.
What is Capella Wellness?
Located on the second floor, Capella Wellness is all about healing. Its treatments are inspired by traditional practices and provide the hotel brand’s signature offerings based on the phases of the moon.
There are four treatment rooms for guests alongside an outdoor heated pool and a fitness studio equipped with the latest offerings from Technogym.

For the ever-busy guests, Capella Taipei aims to be the perfect place for corporate meetings. This section called the Campus has a conference hall and two additional meeting spaces.
