Feadship Just Unveiled Its 377-Foot ‘Hive’ Superyacht Concept
For its latest (and largest) concept, Feadship took some inspiration from one tiny insect.
The Dutch shipyard has just unveiled its biggest concept to date, a gigantic 377-foot megayacht called Hive. Debuted at the Monaco Yacht Show, the stunner was modeled after a bee’s bustling home, meant to give passengers a shared, central space to come together before heading off on their own ventures onboard. And Feadship has filled the vessel with plenty of bonkers features to enjoy on the seas.
With that hub in mind, design firm Studio De Voogt, along with the engineering and naval architects at Feadship, crafted an expansive open space at the core of Hive, ditching the conventional superyacht interior entirely. The team also drew inspiration from the 1930s salons in Paris, wanting the area to be brimming with conversation, culture, and more across its four decks. The vast main deck could become a large salon, a stage, or auditorium, with terraces opening both to port and starboard, while curved staircases lead to balconies and private spaces above. A green room nearby can be used for more performances, lectures, or simply just as yet another gathering space.

From that central hive, passengers can head off to, say, the two-story beach club with dining at water level (and space for 24). Or perhaps the circular, glass-enclosed library is more their speed, complete with a secluded garden. Elsewhere, the owner’s deck is home to a 65-foot glass-bottomed swimming pool that extends right inside the superyacht. And Hive has space to unwind under the starry night sky or below the ocean’s surface, thanks to an underwater lounge and an observation lounge with a retractable roof.
“Hive is designed around the idea that experiences can change people,” Jan Schaffers, senior designer at Studio De Voogt, said in a statement. “We wanted to explore what becomes possible when you start not with what a yacht has always been, but with how people might want to live on board in the near future.”

On the exterior, the new concept calls back to the sumptuous, curved designs of previous Feadship vessels such as Pure and C. Hive has a long, low-slung profile, and plenty of glass, terraces, and a glazed superstructure that make the different decks appear to come together in one flowing movement.
As far as tech goes, the 377-footer has a trio of 900 kW variable-speed permanent-magnet generators running on HVO with fuel cells and a 5 MWh battery pack. For zero-emissions cruising, the vessel can get its juice from seven 75 kW solid-oxide fuel cells, or nine 250 kW PEM fuel cells paired with a methanol reformer. Hive can also take on the seas at a cruising speed of 12 knots, with a top speed of 16 knots; it also offers up a range of 9,500 nautical miles at 12 knots (using HVO) or 5,500 nautical miles at the same speed (using methanol).
