Five Incredible Nissan R34 Skyline GT-Rs Are Headed to Auction
Does your collection have a Nissan Skyline GT-R-shaped hole in it? Here’s the easiest way to fill it.
Next month, Broad Arrow will auction off a collection of five low-mileage R34s as part of its annual Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d‘Este auction in Italy. Each vehicle is expected to fetch top dollar, and if you decide you want to take home two or more cars, you’re likely looking at a cost over seven figures.
The R34 Skyline GT-R is one of the finest sports cars to ever come out of Japan. The fifth iteration of the vehicle known as Godzilla debuted in 1999, and paired a muscular, clean-lined design with potent 2.6-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six that officially made 296 hp, though actual output is believed to be closer to 330 hp. It featured its fair share of advanced tech, including 5.8-inch LCD screen that showed real-time diagnostics, but was only available with a six-speed manual, which is part of why it is now considered one of the last truly great analog sports cars. A prominent role in the early Grand Turismo video games and the Fast & the Furious film series also helped earn it legendary status.

The oldest of the five R34s up for bid is also the most visually striking. The 1999 example has been tuned to make over 680 hp and finished in Midnight Purple II, one of the most collectible colors from its generation. Broad Arrow expects it to sell for between $383,000 and $471,000. Up next are a pair of 2001 variants, a M-Spec and a V-Spec III Nismo S-Tune. The former is a touring-oriented model that is one of just 122 finished in Silica Brass and should fetch between $530,000 and $707,000, while the latter is an exceeding rare street-focused factory build finished in Bayside Blue that could go for between $589,000 and $825,000.
Rounding out the pack are two cars from 2002, the R34’s final year of production. The first is a limited-edition V-Spec II Nür finished in Millenium Jade. It is expected to sell for between $442,000 and $550,000. Last, but far from least, is one of less than 20 CRS examples that were restored and converted at Nismo’s Omori factory. The Gunmetal example should command between $825,000 and $1 million.

Each member of the Ultimate R34 Skyline GT-R Collection, as Broad Arrow has dubbed it, is scheduled to cross the auction block on Saturday, May 16, in Villa Erba, Italy. While any one of these sports cars would be an excellent addition to any collection, we understand if someone felt compelled to go after all five. Just be warned, that could set you back up to $3.5 million, or, if the bidding gets particularly heated, even more.
